Hey, with all the partying they do there it was probably a pig pen! And, the White House had a section all tented a few weeks back...probably bed bugs to boot!
Thanks for the ping.
Didn’t they do this when they first moved into the White House?
Note to Administrator: I hope I’m not too un-politically correct to observe, that the odor of boiling chitlins (chitterlings in non-ebonics)is a stench to be remembered throughout your life. Wait a minute—I thought Muslims couldn’t associate with pork in any form...just sayin’
That’s funny. In India, it’s the opposite. The left hand is considered the unclean one due to ‘bathroom duty’ (although this summer when we visited various places around India we found majority of western toilets instead of the kind like in the previous picture). The right hand is the only one used when eating with your fingers/hand (can’t even use left to break up bread or meat or whatever because it is unclean, even if it is washed)—I remember years ago my husband ‘training’ me on how to tear chappatis (tortilla like Indian bread) with only my right hand, then picking up the entree (curried whatever) with the small piece of chappati—he didn’t want me to embarrass myself when eating with Indian family members!
"change" you can believe in.......
While we were living in Ankara they slowing started putting tp in bathrooms - problem was the tp was like wax paper....so you can imagine the problem with that....LOL
Wasn’t that dress awful?
Lots of mirrors
I love Ernie Barnes’s artwork. He passed away about a year ago, I think. A loss.
I thought Jackie redid the WH.
I don't think velvet paintings are right for the White House.
Who made you King of all Interior Decorators?!? This velvet painting would be entirely appropriate:

They had to replace the carpet due to Obama’s cigarette and roach burns and the curtains caught fire when the aides were freebasing crack one night last week.
You're absolutely right, she did! Another poster pointed out to me that they thought that there were two projects going on simultaneously, still another poster was nice enough to send me a site (post #59) that showed how the decorating project might look when completed.
I went back and reread the article with my original post about the million dollar renovation and I see that they mention the heating and cooling system. I'm wondering if that more expensive undertaking is to modernize the bones of the White House, the side that is involved with the more mundane day to day functions.
I feel you.
And just exactly WHAT is this wonderful difference our Constitution is supposed to bring us from the monarchy elsewhere? Wasn’t it supposed to be MEANINGFUL?
