People keep asking for photos of known crowds for comparison sake and help in estimating the size of the crowd for Glen Beck's rally today. Here goes - using Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor Michigan for a nice even crowd size.
What does it look like to you?
That’s very clever, my Wingnut friend, but we all know, there were tens of hundreds of people there and the pictures that show more were photoshopped.

Beck is giving the true count on Monday.
Michigan Stadium attendance = 110,000
350,000 to 400,000 rally total.
It would depend on density as well. Are people standing shoulder to shoulder solid?
Don’t forget, the Beck rally people were also wearing dark clothes to appear thicker on camera.
Great work!!
I’d say easily 200K.
Please do not over look the fact that thousands of folks are obstructed from view by the trees ,, many , many people found comfort under the shade of those trees .
I think the Beck rally people range from equally to 1/3 as densely packed as the stadium people.
The 110,000 gameday total includes a lot of people working under the stands and elsewhere - I used 100,000 for a simple round figure.
Having been to the 4th of July 5 times, at The Mall, I can tell you the crowds are up to 500,000.
In this case, there are more likely about 250,000. I heard or read that earlier but I cannot give you the source.
If I can find the posts from last years Tea Party, it should give you an idea of what’s possible.
About 500K.
SeeBS estimates 87,000.
One wonders at their capability to measure crowds. No, not merely wonder, but look upon their reports with utter amazement and stunned incredulity. It is to boggle the mind that SeeBS believes no one could challenge their numbers.
They really do not understand the mood of the country. And only a tiny fraction of the concerned people actually made the trek to the Washington Mall.
Funny, toward the end of the Sharpton rally there was a speaker who kept on saying "Come on in," "There are still people coming," as if he were trying to improve the size of the crowd that was so pitiful in comparison. Sharpton would have done better had he been handing out lunch or cigarettes, like Dems do at the polls and during election campaigns to beef up the numbers of attendees.
So how many showed up to march with Sharptongue?
I’m with you as well. 500k
Not a good comparison, at all.
People are sitting literally inches away from each other in a stadium and they are vertically stacked where the person behind them is maybe 6 inches away.
The most accurate way to take a measurement is to do it by grid. A high quality aerial photo of a 100’x100’ area, take a head count and extrapolate to the entire area used with a +/- used to deal with the less populated areas of the sample.
So accepting the overlay and eyeballing it there seems to be at least 300k just around the Reflecting Pool. Add another 100k for the National Mall and still more for the Constitution gardens and it's easy to come up with at least 500k.
I am still standing by my (average) of 9 sq ft per person standing in a loose crowd, 6 sq ft TIGHTLY packed. I'd have to estimate the square foot size of the several areas and add them together to come up with a different figure.
I'd do that but I'm fighting a SEVERE cold and a few other health problems right at the moment and just don't feel up to it.
At this point I could easily accept 500k (or more) even though I think my estimates would be a tad smaller.
Bottom line is it doesn't really make much difference, it was a fantastic turnout!
Remember when Obama gave his speech at the Democrat Convention when President Bush ran for the second time? I made a statement at that time, Republicans best watch this guy, he’ll run for President one of these days.
After the rally, I felt the same way about Glenn Beck. It wouldn’t surprise me if Glenn ran, and it wouldn’t bother me a bit. He has made statements in the past about George Washington not wanting to be President but the people did. I think the same will happen here and Glenn won’t be able to refuse his country. I may be dead wrong, but we could do a hell of a lot worse. If he were to run against Hillary, he would win.........hands down.
