Yep, I was there and I have pictures of the crowd stretching past the WWII Memorial (at the bottom of this picture) and up to the Washington Memorial.
Also, none of the pictures give you an idea of how many people were hidden by the trees on either side. You can see some of them on the right side, but the trees on the left side are too thick.
So basing a crowd estimate on these aerial photos is bogus.
That’s what I saw, too, walking back. We were densely packed in an area near the reflecting pool sitting within a half mile of the stage not far from one of the big screens. There were large numbers of people on the sides beyond the port-a-potties. And, when we looked behind us there were crowds stretching beyond the Washington Monument. It was peaceful and inspirational. It was like the smoothest tent revival...
