Is there a way to find out how the United Way "awards" the funds?
Or is that "privileged information?
I am so glad I dumped those crooks almost twenty years ago...
I don't want to know how much is budgeted for AIDS and other pervert groups...
I live in Greene County, Ohio (mostly Conservative). United Way is run out of Montgomery County (mostly Liberal city of Dayton). We used to have United Way in Greene County, but it was combined with Montgomery County. I did some research back in the early 90’s when I ran them off. At the United Way Meeting, I asked, “How much does United Way collect in Greene County?” The rep said he didn’t have the number in front of him, to which I replied, “It’s about $2 million.” He said that was about right. Then I asked, “How much money is allocated for Greene Counth organizations?” He didn’t have an answer for that, so I said, “It’s about $600,000.” He said that was about right. He then asked me if I had kids and had I ever taken them to Children’s Hospital in Montgomery County. I said “yes.” He said, “See this guy gets a benefit from United Way’s allocation to Childrens.” I replied, “When I took my kids to Childrens and they found out I had health care through Aetna, every fricking doctor in that damn hospital read my childs chart and sent me a bill - it took me 2 years to straighten it all out. I would have to say, I received no benefit from your sucking money out of Greene County for your pet programs in Montgomery County.” People were leaving the meeting after that, and United Way got no contributions from my office after that.
Unless you are in on the allocations, I would say there is no way to find out how United Way awards the funds. I wouldn’t think their records are open to the public, although I don’t know what kind of reporting they have to do to maintain their status.
