Woman of the Year (Sarah Palin)
THE NEW YOUR SUN ^ | August 27, 2010 | Editorial of The New York Sun

Posted on 08/27/2010 11:49:37 AM PDT by onyx

It’s a classic movie plot. Think “Woman of the Year,” with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. At first the man and the woman hate each other, then they fall into each other’s arms? Well, feature the fight that has erupted between the president of the AFL-CIO, Richard Trumka, and Governor Palin of Alaska.

The leader of Big Labor went to Anchorage to give a speech and attacked Mrs. Palin, accusing her of doing everything from writing notes on her hands to coming out with conspiracy theories about President Obama and his “death panels” to getting close to calling for violence. “Sometimes — about Sarah Palin — you’ve just got to laugh,” Mr. Trumka said. “ . . . But it’s not really funny.”

Mrs. Palin turned around and gave as good as she got, or better, in one of her patented Facebook postings, a demarche headlined “Union Brothers and Sisters, Join Our Commonsense Cause!” She wrote as a one-time card-carrying sister of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and United Steelworkers, cards she held by virtue of her husband’s membership in the two unions.

She asserted that it was “kind of ironic that a union boss has the gall to accuse anyone of threatening violence,” particularly in light of what she called the “violent attempts” by the Service Employees “to intimidate those who wanted to make their voices heard in last year’s town halls.”

She argued the real jobs problem was being caused by the policies of President Obama. Suddenly the Internet came alive like the silver screen, so much so that a columnist of the Washington Post, E.J. Dionne, issued a long complaint.

Seems that Mr. Trumka can’t get anyone to listen to, let alone write about, his usual speeches about what Mr. Dionne characterizes as “social CONTINUE

Not you. You seem reasonable. I get called a Palin fanatic myself out here in CA.

I have Palin’s Facebook page linked to mine. The other day someone came up to me and asked if I were really a Sarah Palin fan.

“Absolutely”, I told her.

“Why, because she’s hot”, they asked.

“Well, she certainly is hot, but no, that is not what I like about her”.

I proceed to explain how Palin is a defender of individual liberty, and why that is so important.

The girl questioning me finally conceded that her biggest problem with Palin was the shooting of the wolves. LOL.

I explained to her that the wolves have been killing wildlife and pets purely for sport. They are apex hunters.

Which leads me to conclude that most people have no idea why they don’t like Sarah Palin.

Do I need to even repeat the names that Huck and Mitt and TPaw and Newt have been called?

Can't think of a single convincing reason why any conservative hereabouts should give a rat's @ss about what the sorry, squishy likes of Mittens or Shucksabee are (or are not) being called, whether in polite company or otherwise.

Sara Palin wasn’t really being nominated for woman of the year, you do understand that, right? It was the title the writer chose for his EDITORIAL meant to grab attention. The SUBJECT of this thread is the CONTENT of the editorial, which was Palin getting under the skin of this union thug. To my knowledge Michelle Bachman didn’t post a response to the comments he made about Sara in her own state, nor did the union boss speak in Michelle’s state. Your picture WAS disruptive as people were talking about the CONTENT of the editorial. It in no way had anything to do with a contest between the 2 women. You really need to get over your silly obsession with disrupting threads about Sara Palin or at least learn to follow along with the subject of said thread. For instance, you could argue her words weren’t getting under anyone’s skin (with your reasons why). Or, why Mr. Union Thug was right (with your reasons why). That way, you could still say negative things about her without disrupting a thread. You see, that’s what makes people mad. NOT that you have a negative opinion, just that you continue to post irrelevant (to the SUBJECT) things in order to have everyone notice you. Perhaps if you want to be an attention whore you could start your very own thread posting as many negative things about her as you want.

You’re sure whining now and as for the stuff you posted about, I have no idea what you’re talking about. I wasn’t part of anything anti-Duncan Hunter. Ever.

How did you imagine that I thought that?

Same way you effortlessly monkey-leaped your way from my own plain, straightforward:

Can't think of a single convincing reason why any conservative hereabouts should give a rat's @ss about what the sorry, squishy likes of Mittens or Shucksabee are (or are not) being called, whether in polite company or otherwise.

... to your own wholly disjointed and inexplicable response of:

So Sarah agrees with savaging them relentlessly?

.. I s'pose. Funny ol' world, ain't it?

Whining? like you have been since I posted that lovely pic of Mrs. Bachmann?? You wanted to get on a high horse and let everyone know what an embarrassment you thought I was to Hunter, so much so you pinged him. If you recall, I pinged him too. I have no problem with that. I can unequivocally say that he couldn’t care less what we argue about here.

As for the “other stuff”, of course you don’t care enough to tell Palin that her cultists here are kneecapping others.

And the picture of Bachman had what to do with the content of the editorial? Because it wasn’t really a nomination.

I totally agree that some have made Hunter look just plain foolish when, in fact, it's only the obsession of one poster.

I saw yesterday that someone has also started in on Tom McClintock in the same manner (acting as if he's going to make a run for president).

Both of these fine, public conservatives would have nothing to do with the obsessed women haters of FR if they saw how their names were being associated.

Completely sad.
