In what was likely his last appearance in the Pentagon briefing room, soon-to-be retiring Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James Conway once more waded into the dont ask, dont tell waters with his straight-shooter candor by suggesting that very religious Marines with moral concerns about homosexuality might not be forced to live with their gay battle buddies.
Marines are billeted or assigned sleeping quarters in twos. Already earlier this year, Conway told Military.com that he "would not ask our Marines" to bunk in the same rooms with openly gay Marines. But exactly what about cohabitation worried him was unclear.
On Tuesday, pressed to explain, Conway pointed to the religious morality argument. He said one solution the corps could consider is perhaps a voluntary basis in which those Marines who do not object to homosexuality would agree to take on billets with their fellow, openly gay Marines.
Pressed to explain further why he felt Marines, more than other service, are more outright opposed to allowing openly gay service, the commandant said:
We recruit a certain type of young American pretty macho guy or gal that is willing to go fight and perhaps die for their country, he said.
I can only think as we look as our mission, how we are forced to live in close proximity aboard ships, in the field for long periods of time and that type of thing I just think all those things have impact on the Marines and we just as soon not see it change.
Because the Marine Corps assigns living quarters by twos, they start off with a problem right out of the gate, once the dont ask, dont tell repeal takes effect, he said.
I do not believe there is money out there to allow every Marine to have a room by his or herself, he said.
But the general said he expects Marine commanders to decide quickly once the old policy is dropped.
If the law changes, we pride our corps in leading the services in many, many things and were gonna have to lead in this too, Conway said.
We cannot be seen as dragging our feet or in some way delaying implementation. Weve got to, as the law changes, implement and get on with it.
There is no way allowing open homosexuals to serve is going to work. Would we let 18 year old straight male enlistees shower and bunk with nude females? The whole idea being pushed by Demrats and homosexual activists is insane.
Send in te Fighting 69th first. To see where the weak spots are. They could be very useful and prove their worth at the same time...Go 69th fighters!
Dollars to donuts this issue is what motivated that douchebag Gates to ask if “America really needs a second army” meaning the USMC.
When the scumbag Clintonistas were gutting our “senior” services of their leadership with any real warfighting mindset through all that gender norming and feminizing programs pushed through, the USMC went 180 in the other direction.
The scumbags are still trying to figure out how to punish the USMC for not complying with the pu**ification campaign.
Oh, and, “repealing dont ask, dont tell” means going back to how it was prior to Clinton’s bullcrap, right? Doesn’t that mean going back to homosexuality being a punishable crime? I signed up in ‘79 and of the many docs I had to sign at AFES were two I recall well. Both swearing under penalty of perjury. One that I wasn’t a commiebastard and the other that I wasn’t a queer.
In boot camp, the day after we got picked up by our DIs, we had a health and hygiene inspection. The entire platoon stood naked at our racks at attention and got a visual inspection. Then one at a time we had to march to the head of the barracks, come to attention in front of the Company Commander. About face. Bend over and spread our cheeks. This was to make sure we didn’t have sloppy holes.
I also recall at least two queers getting busted while I was in. Both got some jail time out of it, iirc.
That is what they mean by “repealing DADT” right? Because it was DADT that changed all that. So, repealing means going back to how it was before, right?
The simple solution is making all gay units. Rear echelon units.
Yeah, that segregation will work out well at Parris Island and San Diego recruit depots. My platoon had 72 men in one squad bay. Attended AE school at NAS Jax; 60 Marines in one squad bay. Stationed aboard the USS Princeton, 33 Marines in a compartment. Only at MCAS Beaufort was it “spacious”, four Marines to a cubicle.
I wonder what happens when the drill instructors flunk out the “Peter puffers”. That assumes that they are even allowed to enlist. They may not be up to phsyical standards.
Just guessing but I suspect there would be a LOT of people suddenly claiming to be gay if they learned this would get them away from the boys who come sit by you at chow and ask “Have you heard the good news”.
What a damned idiot this writer is.
Perfect synopsis of the National Ailment!
But exactly what about cohabitation worried him was unclear.
I can think of a couple problems.
A straight and gay Marine are assigned the same quarters. The gay Marine makes an unwanted advance. A fight results. In the PC world who would be punished?
Two gay Marines are assigned the same quarters. They soon develop a sexual relationship. Straight Marines complain why cant their girl/boyfriends be their room mates?
Not the best thing for good order and discipline.
The Wikileak fiasco suggests that gays cannot be trusted.
Queers are going to burn in Hell for eternity if they don’t repent and turn to the salvation offered in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
God will sort this all out.
(sigh...)
“Gay Marine” just does not sound right...
WTF is the world comin to??
There ya go, the new policy:
You can be queer as you want, but you can't test positive for HIV.
I can think of a few more, much worse problems, that have to do with open gays getting into the upper eschelons of the chain-of-command, as they surely will once the "door is opened." If they follow the model they've pursued in civilian organizations, expect pink ICBM bases, pink submarines, pink air-defense bases.
Expect our adversaries to know which is which, too.
indeed.
No way would I want to share a room with some homo, what if they decided to have homo parties, after all they cannot help themselves in public, public bathrooms dog parks nature walk trails, they’re just sick on the head and then think we should accept them as normal, no way.
Look at the homo who gave classified info away to a nutty website because he pulled a temper tantrum.
To these people it is all about sex and nothing else, look at them wanting it in schools on their so called homo parades.
I’ve served and still know of others who are serving and I could not even write what they have told me if homo’s can skip around the base showing affection to others of the same sex.
LOts of them believe they are Christians.
Would you take someone seriously who is a serial sinner in such as confused way? I do’t have to be God to know He doesn’t.
Slaves to pleasure is becoming our norm.
Just look at our Commander in Chief.
Slaves to pleasure is becoming our norm.
Just look at our Commander in Chief.
If it is perverted, so much the more thrilling.
