Same-sex marriage is back as a front-burner issue in American politics.
First, on August 4, a federal judge in San Francisco held that there is a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, striking down part of the California Constitution defining marriage as one man and one woman. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ordered an expedited schedule to consider this case, with arguments to be held in December.
Second, former RNC chairman and 2004 Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman came out this week, announcing hes homosexual, and pushing the Republican Party to support the homosexual-rights agenda. Republicans leaders are beginning to weigh in on where they stand, including on the agendas centerpiece: Redefining marriage.
The Republican Party has an official position on same-sex marriage. Its found in the 2008 GOP platform, which is the clear and uncontestable Republican position until the 2012 convention. When one of your authors (Ken Blackwell) was serving as vice chairman of the GOP Platform Committee, there was a singular focus on producing a party platform that fully reflects the vast majority of Republican Party members.
The GOP platform could not be more explicit: Marriage is the union of one man and one woman. The fundamental institution of human civilization should be preserved as it has been known through the entirety of American history and Western civilization. Supporters of same-sex marriage had the full opportunity to make their case to the party. They made it, and they lost.

You mean like it went away after California endorsed "civil unions" years ago? Wrong--give the homosexual lobby an inch and they want a mile.
There's a whole lot of us who, if the Repubs endorse "civil unions" (i.e. "marriage" in everything but name only) for SEXUAL PERVERTS, will also stay home on election day.
I will not endorse a party which tacitly endorses immorality and sexual degeneracy of any form--and there are many (many) millions like me....MORE than there are homosexually inclined Republicans by far.
And religious believers of any religion. And plenty of people who are not stalwart believers in God but understand the difference between “real marriage” and “insanity”.
The entire faux “identity” of the “gay community” is based on nothing other than perverted, unhealthy and unnatural sex acts. That is why their game plan has been all along to hide what they do, and present themselves as innocent, cleancut, normal victims of hatred and bigotry.
That’s why they hate any public photos or video of stuff like the Folsom Street Fair, or whatever it’s called.
No. Since when is losing ground in a war considered a winning strategy?
People like the Tea Party. Citizens are getting loud. They are waking up.
Why should we endorse people who don’t respect what we believe in? The Whig party died, and the Republican party would kill itself.
Wow, well said!
So save a Democrats seat and stay home.
Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point.

As most of us know, there are core issues and principles that true conservatives DO NOT compromise. This whole issue is one of them. You cannot change what people hold as deeply rooted principles, no matter how hard to try to force them to. The R’s would be wise to heed that.
The problem is the DC elites. I don’t know about state level GOP people. But the DC elite crowd is primarily rotten to the core. Seems as though even ones who started out with principles got compromised, gave in, gave up, and sold out.
I don’t mean that there aren’t some principles conservative Republicans. But we need many, many more.
Transexuals are worse. Crazy men who wear dresses. Sometimes they cut their penis’s off. Even if they don’t cut their penis off, they think they should use the women’s room.
In Maine, one of them sued Denny’s. They claimed that they were descriminated against. I guess Denny’s policy, which was that, because they were men, they should use the men’s room, just didn’t work for them.
They sued and won, at least in the initial stages. The government took the side of the crazy men.
This one, transsexuals, is potentially a huge wedge issue. When I point out that basically transexuals are crazy men who want to be called women, liberals have not even tried to argue with me. They know that their position is completely indefensible. Men cannot become women. Period.
Correction:
I dont mean that there arent some principleD conservative Republicans. But we need many, many more.

And I’m not sure that polygamists shouldn’t be able to marry more than one person.
It doesn’t really redefine marriage. It just says that you can have more than 1 marriage. It also isn’t an extinctionary behavior.
Transsexualism is part of the Krazy Kontinuum of the “gay” life. My computer is on the blink so I don’t have any of my files right now to produce any quotes.
But even John Hopkins hospital which used to pressure surgeons to perform “sex reasssignment” surgeries has now quit doing them because such surgery merely caters to the mentally ill.
The entire “gay” agenda is based on an anything goes (sexually) world view - the weirder, the sicker, the more extreme - the better.
I'm not aware of any. If so...they need to STFU.
Agreed. I’m of the opinion that saying “Democrats believe that men should use the women’s room if they think they’re women” - a factual statement in Maine and maybe other parts of the country - will win a lot of votes for Republicans. I think we don’t need that message this time around, I think we should stay focused on “Republicans will stop the Obama stuff you hate”.
But I imagine that men using women’s bathrooms is less popular than gays getting married.
It’s forcing people to call crazy men “women”. No, you’re not a woman, you’re a crazy man who wants me to call you a woman. You should stop suing Denny’s and get mental health care. I’ve never heard a politician make that argument.
Here are other things that haven’t happened yet, but, why not?
Transspecies. If you wear a tail, and/or floppy ears, you are the species you are dressed as. So, if you’re caught urinating in public, just say “hey, I’m a dog. You don’t arrest dogs for urinating in public, do you?”
Transracial. You are whatever race you feel like at a particular time. This can be useful when filling out forms.
Sure, you may be a man, but everybody else has to call you a woman because that’s what you want.
Sure, you may be a human, but let’s make everyone else call you a dog.
Sure, you may be white, but when the college admissions office challenges you, remind them that race is a state of mind.
It is very easy to say, out loud to someone else, transexualism is “the craziest thing ever”.
You can talk to someone, come up with 1000 crazy ideas, and say they should be implemented, because transexualism is crazier.
Objective reality exists. Leftists do not like that, so they invent their own “reality” and say stuff like “whatever is true for you, is true for you; whatever is true for me, is true for me”.
But what they REALLY mean is “whatever jive crap sick and evil insanity I make up is not only true for me, but I’m going to shove it down everyone elses’ throats!”
The whole “moral relativity” thing is a lie, and they know it. But instead of accepting Objective Reality, Natural Law, they want to be the ones who get to say what Reality is. Of course, they argue amongst themselves about who gets to be the one to say what Reality is, but pretty much they’re on the same page.
And of course their crazed “Reality” is irrational and demented, and that is why leftists can never debate rationally.
Agreed.
There is such a thing as truth, and facts.
Fact, you are a man. If you are wearing a dress and wanting to use the women’s room and call yourself a woman, you’re still a man.
Enough already.
At some point it will be extremely advantageous to point out, repeatedly, how crazy all this is. Currently, certainly when it comes up, it should be referred to as crazy. And don’t back off on crazy.
Remember “pregnant man”? TV loved that. “Oh, look, there’s a pregnant man now.” Nope. Pregnant crazy woman, who is taking a lot of hormones. See how easy this all is?
