A freelance audio operator covering a protest at the site of a proposed mosque and community center near Ground Zero has been reprimanded for his behavior.
Andrea Lafferty, who was a speaker at the mosque opposition rally, first noticed the audio operator questioning a man in the crowd who was holding a sign which read, "No Sharia Here." On Andrew Brietbart's Big Journalism, Lafferty writes:
He was very aggressive, disrespectful and condescending; apparently, he did not like the man's answers about Shariah and pushed the point: "Why do you feel threatened? What are you afraid of? Why can't you answer my questions?" Lafferty then began asking her own questions of the audio op, following him to an ABC News van and snapping several pictures along the way.
In my opinion, the ABC employee's role at the rally was to provoke a confrontation with participants so ABC News cameras could record it and then use the footage; literally, making news. ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider tells TVNewser the network has looked into Lafferty's complaint and agrees that the tech "aggressively" questioned members of the crowd with his personal camera.
Adds Schneider, "He was not instructed to perform interviews or to engage with protesters and was there solely as an audio tech. He has been reprimanded for his behavior at this event."
They just got caught that’s all. Had nobody thought to investigate, the confrontation would have been on Prime Time.
“Unbiased” journalism in action.
We've got 3,000 reasons to feel threatened.
.
He got reprimanded...for getting caught!
Inciting violence-the ehtics of the MSM.
All he got was a reprimand?! I know I shouldn’t be shocked.
There was a fellow that called into Mark Levin’s show. He said that he was they man in the hardhat in the middle of the crowd, and had been there all day. He saw the entire thing. It was a set up. Everything had been quiet until this. A set up? No news there. Move along, move along.
Color me skeptical.
How many incidents like this happen every day that go unnoticed?
An old fashioned fist to the nose, would solve much of what ails America, plaqued as we are with leftist punk cowards and word-twisting lawyers.
Use a taser or stungun. Bloodborne illnesses are no fun, and many lefties are infected with various nasties.
Aw, stop trying to sweet-talk me. You had me at "old fashioned fist to the nose". 8^)
All sorts of folks from road-raging drivers to theiving corporate dirtbags to neo-totalitarian politicians should be reminded on a regular basis that they're not immune from receiving a fat lip and a bloody nose.
....isn’t goading someone in to committing crimes itself a crime?
It’s very easy to fire a free-lance tech...you just don’t hire them again.
Wanna bet he gets hired again?
Walt Disney would be sick at the sewer Disney/ABC News has become. They were trying to provoke. Disney scum.
I absolutely agree.
Name the perp.
During the Elian Gonzalez protests in Miami, an LA Times journalist attempted to provoke a riot by throwing some rocks at the cops.
She was caught for her provocation. She continued working as a journalist and later was one of the reporters who went to visit the Islamists who seized the Church of the Nativity.
Without the name of the perp, we won’t be able to tie the events the next time he engages in liberal activism.
He should be prosecuted under the law. Inciting a riot (or attempting to) is not protected speech.
He was creating a disturbance, certainly much more than a toe tapper in an airport men’s room did.
