I am willing to bet a lot of Dems voted for McCain in the primary if that is allowed in AZ. They know he is soft on amnesty, no matter the noises he has been making to the contrary.

Independents can vote in a primary, but I don’t think Democrats can vote in a Republican primary in AZ. However, JD was an imperfect candidate (I donated money to him in spite of some flaws), and McCain had 20 million + the state GOP in his hip pocket.
Very disappointing, since I now have to vote in Nov & decide if I should just withhold voting for McCain, or vote for his Democrat opponent. Won’t matter either way - McCain will carry AZ without difficulty in the general election.
It ain’t just amnesty that Juan is “soft” on... of late, his 2nd Amendment stand has grown a lot weaker (though the stupid NRA decided to back him anyway). He also was the old leader of the “Gang” that basically gave away Republican position of power in Congress back before the 2006 elections finished it off.
McCain is a traitor, in my book. I can’t help but believe his time as a POW was filled with brainwashing and programming...
My first thought was whether or not Arizona has an open primary as well. If not, there are a &%$#load of Arizona republicans with terrible memories. I mentioned to my wife that mccain destroys the country for 5/6ths of his term and when campaign time rolls around, suddenly he “becomes” a conservative.
I honestly don’t believe he has control of all of his faculties......which were minimal at best anyway.

Yeah, that is plausible. Either that or massive voter fraud, which I guess that is, but bottom line, they may have been willing to vote for that man in the primary even if it meant they couldn't vote for the demon in November, if it meant that they could keep JD out of the club.
