S.Korea detects 'massive' N.Korea troop deployment (AFP) – 08/24/10

SEOUL — South Korea has detected a "massive" deployment of North Korean troops and arms near the capital Pyongyang, Seoul's defence ministry said Tuesday.

The large number of soldiers, armoured vehicles and artillery have been stationed near the communist state's capital since July 12, the ministry said in a report to parliament.

The deployment appears to be related to political events such as a meeting of key communist party delegates next month and the party's 65th anniversary on October 10, a ministry spokesman told AFP.

Exactly....China actually does not care about the N.Korean peoples, rather maintaining the status quo which indeed keeps the US off their borders. Where was China when millions were dying of starvation...and still do? But as we know all food helps goes directly to the military and the elits...little if any to the people no matter who send it.

I many respects this is all between China and the US than the Koreans...though of course the fallout of any changes affects all of Asia. But the root is between the US and China. Unfortunately our hand in their coffers so deep now they have leverages which once were not possible. This too will play out as things move or don’t in these events.

This is more between China and the Us than the Koreans. It will be interesting how it all pans out.

...we can’t discount a power grab by China in the event of a NORK govt collapse.

IMHO if the regime collapses South Korea can not hesitate one second. They must get in and get in fast. Hopefully they will not meet Chinese armor at Pyongyang.

That would not be surprising....the people are simply cannon fodder one way or another...and denial rules the people...they have lost the ability entirely of making decisions for themselves...and the leadership continueously feeds lies to keep it that way. Independant thought is not welcomed.

Even if we were to go in and free these people...they would not grasp that freedom well at all...it would almost have to be another dictator or politcal group who understands the mindsetr of the people. They need to be told what to do..they have no sense otherwise. Rather like an abused wife who has no clue what to do once she is free from her tormentor.

It will take generations before they get over what has been done to them in the last 65 years if they were freed tomorrow and given the resources of the world to rebuild.

“refugee issues, etc.”

Once the first wave or two of refugees headed into SK clears out the minefields, the others will have a clear shot over the border.

But they will be met with China’s armor swiftly coming over the border. China will not risk the Us on their borders under any conditions...N.Korea, to the Chinese, is simply a buffer zone from the S. Koreans rise to freedom and the 21st century. If S. Korea goes in fast China will definately do more than oppose.

North Korea is getting ready for the Jimmy Carter Rambo trip to get someone out of jail. Jimmy just don’t lust after the women in NK. Kim won’t cotton to that.

Absolutely years to undo the indoctrinations..which begin in infancy. I believe the mass starvations were simply allowed...the fewer people to contend with when and if their is a takeover of the leadership.

The videos of thier country...even their major city..just has few peoples there. And the countryside is even in worse shape. It is a country devoid of life...except for the elits and leadership. Very sad...very sad indeed.

Hard to believe they have troops in good enough physical condition to be any good.

OTOH, if there’s anyone they’re going to HAVE to feed, they’d be it.

That “rock” has Nuclear Weapons so we all better be concerned...and Kimbo won’t hesitate to use them if he thinks he can go out with a bang! It’s a touchy situation no matter what way N.Korea is approached...

Hi metmom...nice seeing you post.

I think China has kept there military fed....but even that hardly seems sufficient to say they thrive. But the threat of hunger can drive people to do the unthinkable...the elites are aware of the starvation in their country so to maintain their status quo they likely will fight to the death, not to mention the propaganda that spews 24/7....they all believe the US is to blame for thier lot...Kimbo has made that perfectly clear and in their videos they speak..”Kimbo language”.

And he doesn’t exactly have to have a technologically advanced delivery vechile for his nuke . . . lest we forget Seoul only like a few miles from the DMZ

Well that is one way of looking at it...but the longer Nuclear war can be stalled the better for those who have yet to have the assurance of their final destination. But it is quite an amazing thing that with all the fingers who can push that Nuclear button world wide none has risked doing so thus far....but Kimbo is so unpredictable...he is a madman after all.

Agreed, I definitely see him trying to push the button on his last day alive, probably from within one of his disco’s, a whack job indeed.

That's correct and in part why S.Korea may hesitate just long enough for China to move real fast....they see no threat from N.Korea...they paid their dues. All those tunnels on the border between the Koreans would likely mean N.Korea would move rapidly thru them as well. Another concern of S.Korea for they know there are many of them.

Well, with all of them in one spot like that, a single nuke-tipped Tomahawk would do a world of good.
