Report Accuses Bank Officials of Helping Clients Hide Money From the IRS

Bank officials named in an unfolding Senate investigation have directed more than $2 million into this year’s congressional and presidential campaigns, some of it arriving just as investigators finished a report accusing the bank of helping clients hide billions of taxable dollars from the Internal Revenue Service.
At the heart of the probe is UBS of Switzerland, one of the world’s largest banks, which in June alone distributed $98,000 to members of Congress through its political action committee. In July, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations completed its report on UBS’s role in helping wealthy investors shield money from federal taxes.
UBS always has been a major donor in Washington, in addition to spending close to $1 million a year on lobbying. The bank has spent more on the 2008 elections, which are still more than three months away, than during the entire 2006 cycle. The UBS political committee distributed $2.21 million to politicians and political groups over the past 18 months. The chairman of UBS Americas, Robert Wolf, helped raise more than $250,000 for Sen. Barack Obama’s Democratic presidential bid. And another top executive at UBS, former senator Phil Gramm, was until recently a close adviser to Sen. John McCain’s Republican campaign.
Wolf’s role in the Obama campaign predates the Senate investigation by more than a year, and that Wolf oversees the bank’s American operations,

Mr. Wolf has visited the White House nearly 20 times since Mr. Obama moved in last January. Mr. Wolf lunched alone with the president in June. He joined him July 4th to watch the national fireworks from the White House lawn. They golfed together on Martha’s Vineyard in August.
Making the relationship all the more unusual is that Mr. Wolf works for a foreign bank that agreed last year to pay the U.S. government $780 million to settle accusations that it had helped defraud the Internal Revenue Service. The Justice Department alleged that UBS helped 52,000 wealthy Americans hide billions of dollars in assets to avoid U.S. income taxes.

Who is Robert Wolf? The CEO of UBS Group Americas and one of if not the closest adviser President Obama has on Wall Street. Wolf was profiled in The Wall Street Journal on January 23rd, Obama’s Lead Blocker on Wall Street:
Mr. Obama has at least one buddy in the banking business: a former University of Pennsylvania fullback and ex-Salomon Brothers bond trader who now serves as an outside White House adviser.

The two men first met in December 2006 in the New York office of billionaire investor George Soros. Mr. Wolf was a newcomer to elite Democratic donor circles. Then-Sen. Obama, still months from launching his bid for the White House, was desperate to raise campaign cash on Wall Street.
Mr. Wolf slipped the senator his business card. He got a call from Mr. Obama the next morning. “I picked up the phone and said, ‘Yeah, sure, this is really Obama.’ And it was.” The two men dined twice in Washington over the next month. A few weeks later, Mr. Wolf hosted New York’s first Obama fund-raiser. The event, at UBS’s Manhattan offices, drew nearly 200 people and raised $350,000 in three hours, Mr. Wolf says.
Mr. Wolf’s fund-raising clout helped seal a bond, despite their divergent personalities—a onetime bond trader and obsessive Little League coach hitting it off with a bookish former community organizer.
At a debate in July 2007, former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel took a dig at Mr. Obama for saying he spurned all lobbyists while accepting cash “from a Robert Wolf at USB [sic] Bank.” By then, U.S. employees of UBS had contributed more than $200,000 to the Obama campaign.
Two weeks later, Mr. Wolf took a call from Mr. Obama that he says changed their relationship. The two talked in depth about the country’s rising economic woes. Bear Stearns was wobbly. Foreclosures were skyrocketing. And some units within UBS itself were racking up losses. The bank later had to write down more than $50 billion in illiquid securities as part of the subprime-mortgage crisis. The losses came from a portion of the bank not directly under Mr. Wolf’s purview.
At this point, I nearly spilled my coffee. Why?
The fact that the President was reaching out to Robert Wolf for color on developments surrounding the mortgage business. Why might that be funny? As an institution, UBS could not spell mortgage in the early to mid-90s let alone think about properly underwriting and distributing the product.
I was hired in late ‘96 by a former Bear Stearns colleague who had recently joined UBS to help develop this business. My tenure and that of my colleagues within our fledgling mortgage effort was short-lived as a result of Swiss Bank’s takeover of UBS. Swiss Bank’s management had no desire to be in the mortgage business. UBS’s management, including Wolf, was not about to spend any political capital to truly defend our business.
Not a big deal truly. I took my francs and moved on.
I write now simply because I find it amazing that our President is getting insights on the mortgage market from an individual at an institution that had no meaningful understanding of the intricacies of the mortgage market.

On the first day of his vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, President Obama spent five hours golfing with Robert Wolf, the president of UBS Investment Bank and the chairman and CEO of UBS Group Americas. Wolf, an early financial backer of Obama’s presidential campaign, raised $250,000 for him back in 2006 and in February was appointed by Obama to the White House’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
While Wolf shared a tee time with the President of the United States, another UBS banker, Bradley Birkenfeld, had just been handed a forty-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to assisting a client at UBS evade taxes. It was the first sentencing of the massive UBS tax case.
Three days earlier, UBS had struck a deal with US tax authorities to disclose the identities of about 4,500 of its American clients who are suspected of hiding assets and evading taxes through secret Swiss accounts. The amounts are said to add up to billions. UBS struck a separate settlement in February to avoid criminal prosecution, admitting to helping wealthy Americans dodge their tax obligations and agreeing to pay $780 million in penalties.

As IRS Commissioner Doug Schulman says “we found that UBS was facilitating tax evasion.” He goes on to explain that several tax-cheats whose names had been released by UBS earlier this year have been taken to court and convicted of evasion.
And yet, completely unmentioned in all of this is the fact that the CEO of UBS Americas Group is Robert Wolf. Who is Robert Wolf?
As I explained here, he is Obama’s biggest bundler, i.e. the single individual who rounded up the most cash for Obama’s run for the White House. He may have pulled in as much as $2M for the President. In thanks, Obama gave him a seat on the Economic Recovery Advisory Board where, so far as I know, he still sits.
There are a bunch of questions to be asked. Did any of Obama’s run-for-office-money come from Wolf’s tax-cheating clients? Is the President troubled that his biggest fundraiser aids and abets tax cheats? Will anyone in the MSM ever bother to ask any of these questions?

Within ten days, Obama had announced his intention to run and Clinton was officially in. A story in the Times reported that Obama had nailed two A-list New York donors: Soros and Wolf. But though Soros’s backing was a symbolic coup, it’s Wolf who has emerged as Obama’s most copious cash collector in the city so far—hosting two high-dollar cocktail parties, making countless calls, harvesting more than $500,000. As Wolf tells me about the soirées he’s hosted, he reaches into a meticulously organized scrapbook, takes out a photograph of him and Obama grinning madly, and tells me that I can keep it. “The way Barack has taken this nation with his rock-star status,” he says, “it’s very exciting!”

Apparently, “everyone” knew about Tiger Woods’ affairs and his behavior off the course, but the MSM narrative was that Woods “is a hero” and the Woods brand was something the MSM protected at all costs — refusing to write negative stories about him, or tell the truth about any of his shennanigans. “Everyone” knew Woods was up to the things he got up to, but the MSM would not talk about it.
Here in Chicago, depending on what community you’re in, “everyone” knows things about Dr. Utopia too. Our current president, back when he was a “community organizer” for ACORN, a state senator, and an adjunct law professor, was indiscrete and up to all sorts of shennanigans by all accounts. He not only sat in the pews at Trinity United Church gleefully taking in all the hatred and paranoid delusions of Jeremiah Wright, but like many black men at Trinity he’d then find somewhere up north to “unwind” when fiery sermons couldn’t quench the same thirsts as, say, nights spent at the baths. In Chicago, guys in their late 40s and early 50s, who admit they used to go to bathhouses, love talking about a skinny black guy with big ears who said he was a “state rep”, whenever he’d go to Man’s Country to be serviced by white men there.
We’re in our 30s here and have never set foot in Man’s Country. But, go to Sidetracks on Showtunes nights, Little Jim’s or Northend on Halsted, or the Lucky Horseshoe at Belmont and talk to guys who’ve lived the scene, been there, done that, and will admit to being lifelong fans of Man’s Country.
They’ve got stories to tell, believe us.
I’ve tried to stay away from this stuff. It’s been around for a couple of years. But this report comes from a Hillary Clinton-focused site, and she’s close to the homosexual community.

Obama And Man’s Country
HillBuzz blog is reporting that someone in the national media is FINALLY interested in Man’s Country in Andersonville.
This has to be cloak-and-dagger for the time being, because though we’ve not been sworn to secrecy on the project, we’re not at liberty to talk in depth about what we did yesterday, which was in response to one of the occasional requests we get from members of the media for background info on stories they’re doing.
Normally, it’s foreign journalists who get in touch with us when they’re in Chicago and want to go to the Southside to see how terrible it is, and talk about how Obama did absolutely jack squat for it as either a state senator or US Senator, and hasn’t used any of his particular brand of unicorn horn magic to improve it (or the black community residing there) since the illustrious Golden Age of Hope and Change began on January 20th, 2009.
But, this time it was a US reporter who wanted information on Man’s Country in Andersonville, which is a place both Obama and Rahm Emanuel frequented in the past. Obama until 2002 or so, and Emanuel through 2008, according to what we’ve been told. We spent a good amount of time on the ground in Uptown, Boystown, Andersonville, and Hyde Park yesterday with this reporter, also telling him everything we knew about Trinity United Church of Christ and the Down-Low Club it operated under Jeremiah Wright’s supervision/matchmaking.
What prompted this sudden interest in stories we’ve been hearing since 2004, when Obama first came onto the national scene, is the fact that at least one national journalist also thinks it’s odd — as we have been repeatedly saying — that The Enquirer, The Globe, and other papers have been so wildly gung-ho about reporting on old Vera Baker affair rumors pertaining to Obama…and how all of this comes on the heels of Kal Penn’s sudden and abrupt expulsion from the White House.
Something is definitely fishy.
Why the sudden need to portray Obama as an insatiably heterosexual stud who just can’t get enough women?
Baker’s a diversionary tactic…designed to cover SOMETHING up…and we think that something is an affair Obama had with Kal Penn, which seems to have ended badly. We also think Penn was mugged not by a street thug in Dupont Circle, but by someone working for either the DNC or Organizing for America (or any number of its umbrella thugs), because Penn’s phone had something in it that would prove some kind of romantic relationship between Obama and a Hollywood actor with zero government experience who was plucked off a TV show unceremoniously and lifted into a high profile made-up position in the White House…so he could be close to Obama in Washington, where Obama wanted him. Wanted in more than one sense.
Until he didn’t want him anymore.
And then someone needed to take his cell phone away, so that any pictures, texts, voicemails, or other interesting its and bitts could be secured by those wishing to protect Obama.
Some day in the future — and it might very well take 50 years, until all of Obama’s cultists are gone and historians start accurately reporting on this man — we believe Eric Massa, Larry Craig, Trent Lott, Mark Foley, James McGreevey, and their like are going to prove to be boring in comparison when all of Obama’s antics pre, during, and post White House days are exposed. It’s only a matter of time. The story will one day be written. We doubt it will be by the reporter we spent the day with yesterday, but who knows.
It certainly can’t hurt to have someone from the dinosaur media poking around. The more the better, in our opinions.
More On Man’s Country
The T-Room blog has more on Obama’s and Emanuel’s membership in the gay bath house club in Chicago.
Obama and his chief of staff Rahm Emanuel are lifetime members of the same gay bath house in uptown Chicago, according to informed sources in Chicago’s gay community, as well as veteran political sources in the city.
The bath house, Man’s Country, caters to older white men and it has been in business for some 30 years and is known as one of uptown Chicago’s “grand old bathhouses.” Sources who are familiar with the bath house say that it provides one-year “lifetime” memberships to paying customers and that the club’s computerized files and pre-computer paper files, include membership information for both Obama and Emanuel. The data is as anonymized as possible for confidentiality purposes. However, sources close to “Man’s Country” believe the U.S. Secret Service has purged the computer and filing cabinet files of the membership data on Obama and Emanuel.
Members of Man’s Country are also issued club identification cards. An unnamed source learned that Obama and Emanuel possessed the ID cards, which were required for entry.
Obama began frequenting Man’s Country in the mid-1990s, during the time he transitioned from a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School to his election as an Illinois State Senator in 1996. Emanuel, reportedly joined Man’s Country after he left the Clinton White House and moved back to Chicago in 1998, joining the investment firm of Wasserstein Perella and maintaining his membership during his 2002 campaign for the U.S. 5th District House seat vacated by Rod Blagojevich, who was elected governor.
Man’s Country appears to be a “one stop shopping” center for gay men. The club’s website advertises steam rooms, “fantasy rooms,” bed rooms, male strippers, adult movies, and lockers.
However, Man’s Country was not the only location for Obama’s predatory gay sex activities. The Chicago gay community is aware that Obama often made contacts with younger men at his famous “pick-up basketball” games. It was at these “pick up” matches where Obama first met Emanuel and a young Democratic campaign worker and senior bank vice president named Alexi Giannoulias. Currently running for Obama’s old U.S. Senate seat now occupied by Roland Burris, Giannoulias successfully ran for Illinois Treasurer in 2006 after being drafted for the run by Chicago’s Democratic machine.
This stuff has long been bubbling under the covers for some time. I assume these allegations are being prompted by Democrats pushing for the repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

The thing is, despite both Man’s Country and Steamworks (the two bathhouses in Chicago) being in business for DECADES, and doing fairly well, even in this economy, few people here will admit they’ve ever been there. Since they won’t admit they’ve gone there, they don’t want to be quoted talking about anyone else going there either. Absolutely none of them will go on record being the guy who talks about that skinny, effeminate, black “state rep” who liked having white men give him fellatio (but never reciprocated, the stories go).
But, they sure talk in bars.
And that makes us think of Tiger Woods and all these affairs. It seems if you were in golf circles, you knew all about this…and probably know even more. But, no golfers ever exposed Woods. Even his mistresses didn’t rat him out until he brought himself down. Once the floodgates opened, however, the truth all spilled out.
The same is going to happen with Obama in several areas, SOMEDAY:
(1) How did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, as he details in the book William Ayers ghost wrote for him, when no US citizen was allowed in Pakistan with a US passport in 1981? — the allegation that “no US citizen was allowed in Pakistan with a US passport in 1981” is false.
(2) He admits to doing a large amount of drugs while going to Occidental College in California, smoking dope in high school, and doing cocaine at Columbia, but did he sell drugs too? — From a member’s email, “I know of only two individuals who attended Punahou at the same time young Barry did; one was older and one was younger. The senior only remembers him as the Popolo kid (one of two) and the younger one remembers him the same.....but, along with his buddy Keith Kakugawa, as the campus drug dealers.”
(3) What, exactly, is the big secret with his college transcripts, birth certificate, adoption papers, medical records, and other documents he refuses to release?
(4) Does he have early stage Parkinson’s as many suspect? — never heard this one before.
(5) Did he patronize an establishment called Man’s Country in Chicago during the 1990s?
(6) Was he a member of a support group of men at Trinity United Church who also enjoyed frequenting places such as Man’s Country? If so, who were the other members and did Jeremiah Wright arrange those meetings for these married men with similar interests?
(7) Did he take a $10,000 pay-to-play bribe from Yesse Yehudah when he needed money after his failed congressional race against Bobby Rush?
There are people who know the answers to all of the above, and more questions that we haven’t listed…questions people in Chicago talk about all the time, without any prompting from us.
The MSM did not want the public to know any more about Dr. Utopia than the public knows about Tiger Woods. All that mattered was that these were highly marketable biracial men with “compelling life narratives” the MSM embraced to drive ratings and create phenomena. It took years for the truth to come out about Woods. Maybe the truth will never come out about Dr. Utopia.
Maybe he’ll serve his term, retire to Hawaii, and make billions of dollars delivering speeches and having William Ayers write more books for him.
Or, maybe, people will start talking not just in bars, but to the public itself…just like some started doing about Tiger Woods.

Dr. Eric Whitaker and Sen. Barack Obama go way back.
Their friendship began when they were graduate students at Harvard University. Now, Whitaker is one of Obama’s closest advisers.
Five years ago, Obama, then an Illinois state senator, gave a “glowing’’ reference for Whitaker to Tony Rezko, the now-convicted political fixer who helped Gov. Blagojevich find people to run state agencies. Blagojevich hired Whitaker to be the state’s public health director.
Obama has said that’s the only time he can recall talking to Rezko — who was a major campaign fund-raiser for him and for Blagojevich — about getting anyone a state job.
“Somebody who I do remember talking directly to Tony about was Dr. Eric Whitaker,” Obama told the Sun-Times in March. “He and I played basketball together when he was getting his master’s in public health at Harvard, while I was in law school there. He had expressed an interest in that job. I did contact Tony, or Tony contacted me, and I gave him a glowing recommendation because I thought he was outstanding.’’
As state health chief, Whitaker spent millions on programs that used churches to educate minorities about AIDS, breast cancer and preparing for public health emergencies, a program hailed nationwide.
Whitaker’s agency also got caught up in scandal. He oversaw the budget of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, which approves medical construction projects. Rezko and his associates controlled that board, which they used to solicit kickbacks and payoffs, according to testimony at Rezko’s trial.
Rezko was convicted. Whitaker, who said he wasn’t involved in the board’s day-to-day operations, was never accused of any wrongdoing.
“During my time as director of IDPH, I received four or five calls from Tony Rezko seeking my support for and attendance at the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital charity event,’’ Whitaker said. “After my employment interview, I never had a conversation with Mr. Rezko about the” health department or the planning board.
Whitaker left the state payroll a year ago and joined Obama’s wife Michelle as a high-ranking executive at the University of Chicago Medical Center. When he was hired, U. of C. was seeking permission to expand its children’s hospital — one of five expansions the university sought from the state while Whitaker was health director. All were approved by the planning board. Whitaker and the U. of C. said he had nothing to do with those approvals.

Me too, I am cracking up as I read it - my dog’s gonna think I’m crazy.
How considerate of them to go out in a rainstorm, knowing the SS would have to be in the elements - typical.
The only thing that Obama is/was ever good at is being an accomplished, deceitful, dishonest, criminal. He got to where he is by continual chicanery. He happened to be selected and groomed for the election by those of his ilk because he was a well-spoken black man. They figured it was time to pull the race card out and utilize it to arouse the passions of lethargic black voters, and play on the conscious of white voters. It worked.
All during the campaign and for almost two years since, voters who supported and then selected this con artist as their president wanted to believe the truth of his history, background, anti American activities, hordes of terrorist connected friends and associates or did they want to question his religious beliefs, his college records, his place of birth, etc. They thought, those Obama supporters, that any furry over those things was just political "spin" or propaganda.
They even took offense if someone mentioned any of the dark, hidden, secretive information that was there for them to acknowledge.
But his string pullers forgot an important fact. When a man is in the spotlight of the Presidency, seated in the Oval Office, in Our House, the investigation and watchfulness of what he is and what he does only heightens. The initial "hands off" time is over. I give a few more months until there is a very noticeable jump in his disapproval.
The truths being evidenced and validated now are just too many and too real to be trumped by political "spin." And then we will see some very angry people confronting the Liberal media who denied them the openness of reporting the truth.
