SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. -- A Bullitt County man who shot and killed another man is speaking out. The shooting happened Friday night in the parking lot of the Northside Apartments in Shepherdsville.
The victim's family said the victim was shot for no reason, but the man who fired said it was self-defense.
"He says that we said stuff to his mom, but we didn't," the shooter's wife, Alice Morris, said.
Alice and David Morris said that's when victim Charles Pearl stopped his vehicle and approached their picnic table, swinging a tire iron in his hand.
"He said, 'That doesn't scare me. I said, 'No, this will.' And bam. That's all I done." - David Morris
"He said, 'Which one of you hos wants your head knocked off first?' So everybody jumped up and I said, 'Hey buddy, come on, I don't know what your problem is but we don't need this around here,'" shooter David Morris said.
"He didn't threaten any women with it. He pretty much said, 'Where's the biggest guy? I'm gonna whip him,' or something like that," said Pearl's cousin Michelle McFall.
McFall said Morris' grandaughter insulted Pearl.
"He's been locked up for seven years, so he has a prison mentality and he seen three big dudes at the picnic table doesn't know what to expect from anybody," McFall said.
Morris said he told Pearl to leave, but Pearl yelled profanities at him.
"I said, 'OK, I'm done. I'm leaving.' I turned and walked away. I said, 'If still you're still standing there and running your mouth, you ain't going to be standing there for long,'" Morris said.
When Morris came back, Pearl was still there, and Morris said Pearl approached him.
"I came down with a clip in this hand and gun in the back. I laid it down, like that. He said, 'That doesn't scare me. I said, 'No, this will.' And bam. That's all I done," Morris said.
Morris admitted he threatened Pearl's mother after she got in his face about the shooting.
Morris said the only problem he had with Pearl prior to the shooting was Pearl's speeding in the complex.
Police interviewed more witnesses Monday, but no arrests have been made.

prayers for the 'victim' to have a clean conscience and police record if this was a good self defence situation...
