Today our county received a piece of the World Trade Center (which will stay here as a permanent memorial), the "911 Memorial Steel". The turnout for the welcoming ceremony (which wasn't well-publicized) was huge, and the patriotism in the air was amazing.
The twisted steel beam can be seen on the truck in the upper left. A few of the thousands of bikers who escorted the steel across the country just unwrapped the flag and gave it to the Navy honor guard and local rescue folks to fold:
Patriotism is alive and well.
