Senior government officials have joined scientists in blaming climate change for the devastating floods in Pakistan and other extreme weather events around the globe.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in an interview with Pakistan’s Dawn TV, said “there is a linkage” between the Pakistan floods and climate change.
In his address to a special UN meeting on the floods last week, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also said that Pakistan’s flooding “reconfirms our extreme vulnerability to the adverse impacts of climate change”.
Scientists have said the floods in Pakistan --- and the fires in Russia, the mudslides in China, the droughts in sub-Saharan Africa --- are enunciations of scenarios climate forecasters have long predicted.
“There’s no doubt that clearly the climate change is… a major contributing factor” in this “unprecedented sequence of extreme weather” over the past month, said Dr Ghassem Asrar, the director of the World Climate Research Programme and the World Meteorological Organisation.

The Paki's are experts on squeezing cash from the west. First it is hunting al qaeda and letting us launch a few drone strikes in their territory in exchange for billions in US Aid. Now they have a flood due to the yearly monsoon and of course they need billions more from the west. The Pakis have no economy to speak of, the only source of funds for their corrupt elite is by skimming it off the aid we send them. Hillary and Barry are too stupid to realize they are being played. The US has tripled aid to Pakistan since ol Barry took over from GWB, and we have nothing to show for it but more dead soldiers in Afghanistan and billions stolen by Pres 10% Zardari.
Global Warming is going to lead to more fires, more earthquakes, more terror attacks and out of control acne....

There is always doubt. The role of science is to quantify that doubt, not to ignore it.
Since when does “being an expert” have anything to do with yapping about “climate change”?

Good sarcasm, but as a person in the field of science, there’s nothing expert about claiming something after something has happened. Science is about projecting results based on other facts. The most annoying factor about this Global Warming hype is the vast degree to which they make claims after the fact, but there is little, if any actual reliable projection made about it. There’s also little suggestion outside of the extreme as well.
I completely agree about the soaking up cash part. We give loads of money to the impoverished nations of the world, but they don’t show much signs of ending their poverty, or their dependency on us either. There’s a lot to ask about how effective a lot of foreign aid is, much less what’s going on.
