I was at Belmont Club and a post added some structure to a thought I have been having. The land around the WTC and Ground Zero is hallowed. All of us non-liberal Americans agree on that. The post spoke to the land around Ground Zero being declared a National Battlefield. Apparently the enabling law is Public Law 89-665; 16 U.S.C. 470. It can "be designated with varying zones of influence and of specified effects, one of which could include “offense to the survivors.”
In essence this is what the Islamic group that intends to build that Mosque (and recruiting center) intends, but it should be our memorial, not theirs.
Maybe its not that original, but I have written my Senatorial candidate and the State Republican Chairman asking if we could get this ball rolling to avoid having a multi story jeering insult at Ground Zero. Maybe if we all do the same we can get some movement to have this hallowed ground recognized by law so the Islamists will have to build their "peace center" somewhere else.
Is that fair to the fallen at an actual battlefield, or those who died at the WTC area, who had no inkling they would be attacked.. The WTC was not a battlefield, except to the Jeremiah Wrights of the world. The people in this buildings had no idea they would be attacked.
Ground Zero deserves to be called a battlefield every bit as much as Gettysburg. But I get a feeling that whatever the extent of the designated battlefield zone, some Moose are going to try to plop a mosque or mosques immediately outside of it, just because.
They can build it where the sun don’t shine.
Lets face it, the west cannot survive if Islam gains too much power. Each mosque is another step toward Sharia law. Tolerance is a wonderful thing until it leads to self destruction. At some point the west has to come to grips with this awful dilemma.
Well, I’d think the rescue attempts should count as “fighting back.” This isn’t a mere disaster area.
I have been saying the same since this first came up in January, simple solution.
Will anyone do it, doubt it.
But wouldn’t you still have to demonstrate that a mosque is an “offence to the survivors”? I don’t see that getting past anybody that isn’t already against the building. Using basic religious freedoms is always going to trump any arguments about perception, at least in the courts and such. As much as most Americans understand that this mosque is a jab in our own eye we will still find it difficult to overcome the natural resistance our courts have to acting against a religious institution.
Release all the censored footage and photographs of 9/11 and FORCE every network to show them 24/7/365.
Or make the old Burlington building an official part of Ground Zero.

Islam is a war plan. So, I agree.
The people at Pearl Harbor had no idea they would be attacked. In fact the people occupying any ambush site had no idea they would be attacked. It’s sort of wrapped up in the definition of the word “ambush.”
