One of the leaders of the proposed Islamic center and mosque two blocks from ground zero in New York says it's too late to back out now.
"There is too much at stake," said Daisy Khan, who, with her husband, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, is leading the project. "Constitutional rights, the development of the Muslims here, how the world is watching the United States. We tell people America upholds religious freedom. We should not compromise those values."
Khan spoke to Sally Quinn of the Washington Post, who quoted her in a blog post.
"We have to convince people that not all Muslims are extremists," said Khan, as quoted by Quinn. "We have to educate them on being able to distinguish between us and on the issue of Islamophobia. This is a bigger fight. This is a defining moment for us."

Well, proving you are not ALL extremists could start by acknowledging others concerns and feelings instead of acting like children out to prove they can do something regardless of the impact to others.

Think about it. To every Muslim Obama IS a Muslim because his Father was a Muslim and THAT makes him a Muslim. Now the Muslim Obama comes out and says he is a Chrisitian which to them is no different than any other Muslim turning his back on Islam and declaring he is a Christian.

Exactly it is a political system, a mentality impressed on the Muslims, one of deception ,conquest and world domination ,the world and everything in it (sorry tony).
The entire reason for this mosque, is to “stick it to the man”, only in a global sense, unlike the radical left scum of the 1960s who did it on the national level.
But I sense that this entire episode is very good, politically, for the GOP, especially among independents who are waking up to what is going on in this country.

How can they move? If you move once, you would never stop moving ever again. Anywhere, anyone can raise objections and security concerns, and claim to be offended by their presence. You officially would be agreeing to be treated as second class citizens and agree to live with different set of rules. Not to mention, they would be agreeing that is is OK for every single Muslim citizen to be suspected of being a terrorist and viewed as such.
At this point, it is important as Americans, they make their stand and be defeated. If one group allows itself to be bullied then it would expand to other groups as well.
