Governor Says Area Around WTC Site Should Be 'Zone Of Solemnity' SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CBS) ― Click to enlarge Gov. Pat Quinn says he is opposed to a plan to build a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City.
Comparing the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to Pearl Harbor or Auschwitz, Quinn said Wednesday that he opposes a proposal to build a mosque near the former World Trade Center site.
"I do believe that there are special places on earth that should have a zone of solemnity around them," Quinn told reporters. "I would strongly urge those who are thinking of putting a mosque within that zone to rethink their petition."

Pat Quinn probably could not find New York City on a map. A New York map! My Dear Governor....
I think the state should declare the area a state monument. They can take the land through eminent domain and give them the full amount of the money they paid for it back.
Hey, the CBS reporter seems to follow AP's instruction and at the same time deny it. AP's instruction is to avoid any 'ground zero' word, instead reporters should use 'mosque near WTC' or 'NYC mosque'. This one managed to accommodate a bit, but not completely...
Don’t worry Pat. When the Moslems bring down the Sears Tower, they will want to put up a Cordova Mosque near it.
And Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright will be leading the fight for it, along with Obama.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
Beautiful. Following AP’s dictate well!
