The National Park Service said Thursday that it has approved the permit for the Aug. 28 Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin rally at the Lincoln Memorial.
Park Service spokesman Bill Line said the permit indicates that organizers expect 300,000 people to attend. Line said it is a "fixed rally" without a march. The rally will go from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The park service is processing a permit request for a counter demonstration and rally by the Rev. Al Sharpton...

I’ll be on the bus from Augusta Maine and staying at the Marriot Rosslyn in Arlington, VA
If you fail to see what was distastful about your first image, you are lost.
lol, whatever you say buddy. sheesh. *rolls eyes*
And, actually, for the record, I do fail to see what was “distasteful” about the first image...so apparently I am lost.
You are the one that complained to the moderator to have the image removed right? C’mon seriously are you THAT sensitive?
Roger wilco!!!
I watched that same Beck program. No signs and Sarah just doing the introductions. It was a “downer” for me. Like you, I wish everyone attending the very best and I would love togo, just to meet up with FRiends, but my plans fell through a couple weeks back.
You’re right - I hadn’t thought about that. People would stay home, were it televized.
I suspect the surprise guests are either military heros or maybe a Supreme Court Justice, like Clarence Thomas.... channeling Lincoln and MLK.
That's great! I'd hop a bus!
RedMDer and you all. Please see Poser's information.
LOL. Here’s a graphic for you to see... :)
Owen - several members planning to attend are listed and have posted here.
Please see Poser’s information.
Ping to this thread also, regarding 9/12.
It looks like you take the orange line from Rosslyn to the Smithsonian to get close to the Lincoln Memorial.
We take the orange line from New Carrollton on the other side of town to the Smithsonian.

This is going to be great!
Bring it on, Reverend Al! I relish the opportunity for him to make a total ass of himself.
What makes you so sure that the surprise that GB references isn't that Al Sharpton links arms with GB?
Unless I've missed it, nobody has come up with a solid suggestion.
Since most people are using the MetroRail, and the closest MetroRail station to the Lincoln Memorial is the Smithsonian station, why doesn't everyone meet outside of the main entrance of the Smithsonian MetroRail station at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28th?
#1. Sharpton applied for his own permit to stage a counter protesxt
#2. Sharpton has been very outspoken about Beck’s rally as being inappropriate, mockery of MLK, etc, etc etc.
#3. Sharpton is a crook. Why would he be interested in any rally whose aim is to “restore honor”?
That’s a good idea. The tea party people are also having a cocktail at the Hyatt on NJ Avenue at 7pm on Friday night.
We’ll be there!
TRS
Got into town too late for the Tea Party get together, but I hope to see some Freepers on the Mall tomorrow.
