Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) weighed in on the controversy over a proposed mosque near the World Trade Center site Wednesday, calling the recent opposition to the project "one of the most disgraceful things that I've heard."
Franken was born in Manhattan, and lived there again while writing for "Saturday Night Live" over a period of 20 years.
"I dont know how many of you have been to New York, but if a building is two blocks away from anything, you cant see it," he said of the mosque's proposed site. "Its a community center. Theyre going to have a gym. Theyre going to have point guards. Muslim point guards."
Franken's comments were greeted with laughter and applause, Illinois's State Journal-Register reports.
They [Republicans] do this every two years. They try to find a wedge issue, and they try to work it.
A mosque built on or near Ground Zero would in fact become the new Mecca.
Every dirty, smelly wannabe martyr on Earth would feel compelled to visit....
Hey Al, I got your wedge right here...
“They [Republicans] do this every two years. They try to find a wedge issue, and they try to work it.
—Howard Dean & Harry Reid are Republicans...who knew?”
Yeah, good point.
One things Franken knows is DISGRACEFUL
Al Franken is a terrorist sympathizer.
That is all.
I m curious how Muslims would feel if the majority of construction workers on this project were Jewish?
Somehow a vision of a girls basketball team clad in burkas flashes in my mind.

Funny I seem to recall that in the 1980's, 2001-2008 the homeless, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, abortion, deficits were the campaign issues brought up, or rather 'wedged' between classes, genders, races, locales, religions, only during Republican Adminstrations/Congress. So many of the aforementioned 'problems' disappeared in 1993-2000...only to 'reappear' in 2001.

Yep, great point.
Well, that settles it. Now I know I’m right to be against it, since the diaper boy is for it.
Yes...what a teachable moment for the current muslim call for tolerance.

Hey, Senator Lardass! Even if you can't see it, you can still hit it with a landing gear from there you DUMBASS!
My guess is that they would enjoy that. I would view jews building a mosque as enslavement, because I can imagine no other way for such a scenario to occur.
Excellent post and summation of the true meaning of Islam.
I'm sure the World Trade Center was visible from two blocks away.
Another self-loathing Jew... Next?
“It’s a child care center”! They’ll have outreach programs for the yoots!”
Yah sure.
