One analyst estimated Obama's five-state, three-day tour cost taxpayers about $2 million.

On top of that, the carbon footprint, or pollution generated by the travel, probably matched "something of a size-32 shoe," said Pete Sepp of the National Taxpayers Union, a group that promotes smaller government and fewer taxes.

After reading about all the pissed off people in LA that got caught in the hugh traffic jam, I thinking that he may have actually done the RAT cause a disservice. Not that I’m complaining, mind you.

There are rumblings here in the LA area for the city and county to be reimbursed for the cost of The Kenyan's visit as the sole purpose of his trip was to raise money.

Massive police presence; hours of road closures.

Not all those complaining are GOP supporters. I heard a few Dems. on call-in shows.

This was one ridiculous, over the top circus.

One guy said he counted 35 vehicles in the motorcade.

There was something on one of the threads about Obama in LA that the traffic tie-ups he caused may have caused economic losses of $10 million. But no matter--he raised $1 million for the Democrats.

You just know that, with their logic, the next step is going to be the Campaign Carbon Footprint Reduction Act of 2010 which will provide for the immediate cessation of all presidential travel for fundraising (excepting events involving golf, hoops, or ice cream). Concurrent, the treasury shall immediately commence a daily transfer of $2M of taxpayer money (from money earmarked for environmental initiatives) directly into Democrat coffers.

This will be touted as a revenue-neutral expenditure that pays for itself, an investment in the environment.
