As if to call out the absurdity of Democratic plans to run against George W. Bush's record this November, a crop of young Republicans - who weren't in office back then - is eagerly taking on establishment Democratic politicians. Adam Kinzinger, running in Illinois' 11th District, is one example of this trend. Less than 2 years old when Ronald Reagan won his first presidential election, Kinzinger is seeking office in President Obama's home state.
...internal poll shows Kinzinger leading the incumbent opponent by 11 points.
...Kinzinger has an impressive resume. He served in the Air Force Special Ops, Air Combat Command, Air Mobility Command and Air National Guard...
The campaign reached a low point in July, when Democratic operatives sought to catch the wave of national attention brought about by ... Richard Blumenthal's misrepresentation of his military record...
...Chicago Sun Times' Steve Huntley explained,
When his campaign website went up last year, a staffer wrote that reserve officer Kinzinger "now serves as a pilot with the Air Force Special Operations Command." Indeed, at the time Kinzinger was on Special Ops duty. It was a temporary assignment, but after he returned to civilian life, the wording was not changed. When a complaint surfaced that Kinzinger was trying to make Special Ops seem like a permanent posting, the wording on the website was changed to "has served" and added his work in other units. After it became clear that Halvorson's campaign manager had ... "e-mailed military officials to inquire about Kinzinger's titles and roles without identifying himself as representing a political opponent," the press rightly slapped Halvorson for her "specious" attacks.
But Kinzinger told me that Halvorson, who serves on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, "talks about how much she loves veterans . . . until one of them runs against her."

I think Deb’s spokesperson was about 5 seconds away from “going ghetto” at the end of that video, LOL
What does that one lady say - “You know what? We don’t like you either” and waves them off?
Is there an Illinois ping list, or a ping list for key house races?
Not that I know about, but let me look in the Illinois members list for a couple of members I know and we’ll ping them, all right?
The 11th Congressional District of Illinois includes the towns of Joliet, Kankakee, LaSalle, Ottawa and Streator, and all or parts of Will, Kankakee, Grundy, LaSalle, Bureau .

Republican Wildcat,
I’ve pinged some Illinois FRiends to see if they might live in District 11 or know FReepers or friends in that District who might be interested in helping to support Adam Kinzinger!
Thanks for the ping!
Anyone have the audio from the interview Don Wade did with Debbie Halvorson last spring? It’s a classic. Kinzinger has the votes of my friends in the district.
Thanks onyx. I live in the 14th but work in the 11th. I have hosted Adam at work where he was able to meet and greet our employees and office staff. He is a very impressive young man.
FYI - ping
Debbie Halverson recently fired her campaign manager and lost the endorsement of the Chamber of Commerce.
Really...an established incumbent losing the support of the Chamber of Commerce is no small thing. Firing the campaign manager indicates that internal polling by Kinzinger showing him up a bit may have some merit.
I didn't know if you had a ping list for interesting / key House races or not. This is definitely an important one as a chance for a pickup and a younger face to cast off the "old white guy" image of the party.
That’s from last October. The one I was referring to was from this past Spring—I believe right after the Obamacare or Cap & Tax vote. She wasn’t in the studio, she was on the phone. Don ripped into her, and continued after she hung up.

I didn’t think that sounded like the one you were describing - but it was on the only one I could find.
