Gun-toting soccer moms a scary thought in D.C. area, but not out west

PHOENIX -- In the red rock and sand of the Arizona desert, just past the retirement villages and golf greens that have made this sun-worshipping city famous, sits the biggest public shooting range in the United States.

Not far away are the Wal-Marts where Arizonans pay Sun City retirees to wait in line when a new ammo shipment arrives, lest the supply run out. Residents have the right to carry handguns openly, and starting last month residents who have no criminal records and are at least 21 also are able to carry concealed weapons just about anywhere, without the bother of getting a permit.

The full embrace of firearms is just as fervent to the north in Montana, where nearly two-thirds of all households have firearms. Montanans feel so strongly about their right to own guns for hunting, fending off grizzlies and -- if it comes to it -- fellow humans that lawmakers passed a measure last year that challenges the federal government's authority to regulate guns made and kept in their state.

This is the gun culture of the American West, and it is from here that the latest challenge to the District's firearms laws has come. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) have proposed a law that they say would sweep away overly stringent regulations imposed by the D.C. Council after the Supreme Court struck down the city's 32-year ban on handguns.

[Mendelson] also said the law shows a disregard for the realities of the District, where guns mean drive-bys, holdups and intimidation more than sport, tradition and the American way.

Yep, that's what happens when the only people who have guns are the criminals. It's a culture built by liberal Democrats.

The view from the offices of the WaPo is that there is civilization inside DC itself, and in isolated upper class regions of Maryland (and perhaps the horsey area of northern Virginia); and they will concede that occasionally New York and San Francisco should be listened to. But the rest of the country, in their opinion, is not only a vast wasteland, but may be rightly compared to a petting zoo of sort, that you may want to visit from time to time, but certainly never actually live there.

Although I believe in the principle of repentence, the first step in that process requires an ackowledgement of wrong-doing and wrong-thinking. On that basis, I believe that some folks will NEVER get it. Even with physical facts staring them in the face, they will deny the obvious. Don’t try. Don’t waste your breath. Just work around the problem.

In D.C., they worry more about the well-being of criminals.

Rightfully so. Btw, do you know the difference between a socer mom and a pit bull? Ans: the pit bull doesn’t wear lip stick.

Soccer accomplishes a rare feat: Bringing together kids who's mothers are afraid to let them play real sports and foreigners with questionable loyalties.

Having lived in “soccer mad” countries for over a decade, I am a big fan of the sport. I was in Atlanta, visiting family, during the last world cup. I was with my brother-in-law watching the final. Said b-i-l was on the phone with a friend and was loudly deriding the uselessness of the game and how boring it was. As soon as the final whistle blew, he changed the channel and started watching a golf tournament. Of course, that’s not boring.

"Gun-toting soccer moms a scary thought in D.C. area, but not out west"

Dishonest politicians and corrupt police fear citizens exercising their right to remind them what the Second Amendment to the Constitution really means.

Gun History

After reading the following historical facts, read the part about Switzerland, twice.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20,000,000 dissidents, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1..5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56,000,000!!!

It has now been 16 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year statistics are now in:

Australia-wide: Homicides are up 3.2 percent.

Australia-wide: Assaults are up 8.6 percent.

Australia-wide: Armed robberies are up 44 percent..

Victoria-wide: Homicides with firearms are now up300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned
them in, the criminals did not, so criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed
drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey are unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully
ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won’t see this data on the U.S. evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property.

And, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens..

Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are ‘citizens.’Without them, we are ‘subjects’.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends and relatives

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. No weapon can be properly used or wielded without the brain.

SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN! SWITZERLAND ‘S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT TO WHOM

THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.

SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN-RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!

IT’S A NO BRAINER, FOLKS!! DON’T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET OR WORSE, A CHALK OUTLINE.

I’m a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment! If you are too, please forward this note.

Just consider how powerful our government is getting!

OUR GOVERNMENT THINKS THESE OTHER COUNTRIES SIMPLY DIDN’T DO IT RIGHT. WELL, LEARN A LESSON FROM HISTORY!!
In God We Trust

We have a lot of gun-toting soccer-moms in Texas. Our attitude is “so what?”.

I had a discussion with a good firend last week who moved to Texas from Minnesota about two years ago. Her attitutde about guns was very enlightening. She thinks that carrying a concealed weapon is crazy because she feels that if people get mad they will pull out their guns and start shooting. Of course, that isn’t the case because that is not what guns are for.

But her attitude towards guns was right out of the DNC/liberal playbook. I am going to be teaching her and her daughter to shoot next month and I hope to change her mind about guns in general.

The best way to put it is that in the west and south we are simply more comfortable with them as tools and as toys.

She is a right winger, BTW.
