ALLENWOOD, Pa., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Bruce Pierce, who was serving a life sentence for the 1984 slaying of Denver talk radio host Alan Berg, has died of natural causes, prison officials said.
Pierce died Monday at the federal prison in Allenwood, Pa., where he had been locked up since 1987 when he was sentenced to 250 years.
Pierce, a resident of Montana, was a reputed neo-Nazi who pumped 13 shots into the Jewish talk-show host from KOA radio in 1984. The incident was the basis for "Talk Radio," a play by Eric Bogosian that was adapted into the feature film of the same name, directed by Oliver Stone.
A prison spokesman told The Denver Post Pierce was "an average inmate" who passed the time working at the institution and taking part in recreational activities.
Fantastic monologue that Bogosian did in that movie!
(Hey .. I wonder if it’s on youtube?) lol
Good riddance to a piece of dog waste.
One less piece of human garbage in this world.
Thanks Yehuda
In my humble opinion .. That scene rates right up there along-side Howard Beale’s monologue in Network.
OUTSTANDING Bogosian piece!!
I don’t want to blame the victim, because the killer, not the victim, is at fault...
...but going forward, if you are saying radical, provocative things in public, take a few simple precautions such as:
1. wear kevlar
2. travel with friends or with a dog
3. be aware of your surroundings
4. pack heat
5. bulletproof your car
6. prep your house
It might not be your fault that someone is trying to kill you, but better to be alive than dead right.
Bogosian’s play actually had nothing to do with Alan Berg. It was Oliver Stone who decided to bring elements of Berg’s story into the film version.
Saying radical, provocative things is one thing. But Alan Berg was a vicious, ugly human being, and that’s how he presented himself on the air.
His shooting wasn’t the first time guns were involved. In 1977, the weekend just after he either left of his own accord or was fired, someone shot up the radio station he had been working for.
