Her recent use of Nig*** Nig*** Nig*** on the air probably did her in. I’m surprised she survived the nude photos. Talk about bad decisions. She was the soup nazi of self help.

She used to be on at noon following Rush...I had to be sure to change the dial before I went into the office so I could avoid her shill when I went to lunch.
For the life of me I have no idea why people call her. She only beats the crud out of anyone who calls into her show. She is simply way too sanctimonious and condescending.
To: GoCards
She said the “n” word to make a point in a conversation with a black woman who was complaining about her white husband’s insensitive friends.

So did she actually use the n-word offensively or did she just say the n-word when discussing the n-word?
To: Dr. Eckleburg
Found her to be very patronizing,i would usually turn off radio when she came on..

Most importantly, she spoke against the homosexual agenda and life-style.
These days, that’s enough to get you retired fast.

She is not going to go away completely. She has written several books and some were best sellers on the Amazon list. I'm not a rabid fan of hers but I believe that she has a lot of common sense and is very wise about some subjects. As far as racism goes, hell I'm about as bad as the next guy. I'm am American Indian and sometimes I'm racist against certain white people. (very few though, like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, to name a couple)And of course I'm a biget because I don't want that mosque built and ground zero.
To: Dr. Eckleburg
She should have been driven from radio simply for repeatedly using the word "sucky".
Another annoying trait is her always assuming she had all the facts when a caller was telling a story.
Then there was the nude photos from her younger days. If you haven't seen them, don't go looking.
Overall I suppose her quitting is a loss.

Fortunately, Dr. Laura has no intention of giving up the fight for what she believes:
"The reason is I want to regain my First Amendment rights. I want to be able to say what's on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I'm sort of done with that."

I just listened to the audio. I REALLY thought her comments were spot on. She wasn’t being racist at all. She was exposing the hypocrisy. Some people are just too overly sensitive and CAN’T have an honest discussion about ‘race’. Pathetic.
I took my kids to see the latest Shrek movie and the donkey character (Eddie Murphy) used the ‘cracker’ term. There is certainly a double standard. Can’t have it both ways.
When I lived in the UK....I had many people call me a ‘Yank’. Sometimes it was used in a pleasant, kidding manner....sometimes in a vicious tone. I was once asked if I minded being called that from someone who happened to be acting like a complete a$$hole....I replied, “Well I don’t exactly run around calling Brits ‘limeys’, do I?” He replied...”Fair enough, love.”
To: Dr. Eckleburg
Schlessinger said this was her decision, but she also said she had lost sponsors for her recent comments on race.
Outrageous! I heard her comments on a replay of the radio show and I don't think it was any big deal. In fact I agreed with her. We are seeing just how toxic political correctness can be. First the feminists were after her, then the homosexuals and now the blacks.
She's made a lot of enemies but I hope she reconsiders and stays on the air. I don't listen to her show however because I'm not interested in the type of show she does.

This is a tough situation.
No doubt part of the reason is her taken-out-of-context use of the “n” word.
Now. She was taken out of context. And that should have been a bigger issue.
But really. What use is there in civilized conversation for that word?
