BOSTON (AP) -- A judge in Boston who granted asylum to President Barack Obama's African aunt ruled she deserved to stay in the United States because a federal government official leaked her status to a news organization.
U.S. Immigration Judge Leonard Shapiro granted asylum to Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUH'-nee awn-YAHN'-goh) in May. His written decision was released this week through the Freedom of Information Act and first was reported by The Boston Globe.
The judge found a federal government official disclosed Onyango's immigration status and her relationship to Obama to The Associated Press three days before the 2008 presidential election. He said the disclosure could make her a target if she were sent back to her native Kenya.

What BS.
Was the Officer made accountable?
What a crock of crap from yet another dim-wit judge. Obama has a half brother running around over in Kenya and he doesn’t seem to be anyone’s target. So, how is it that the aunt, who is a half sister to Obama’s long deceased father, will be in peril?
More left wing do as they please.............
Following this judge’s logic, that the lady would be in danger if she went back to Kenya, wouldn’t it follow then that Imam Obama’s half-brother would ALSO be in mortal peril? Maybe Imam Rauf can stop by Kenya and start the paperwork to bring him to this country and into Section 8 housing.
GMTA, A1A.
Not if he released it on WikiLeaks.
I actually really dont care about this- as his aunt she would have been a target and so they had to let her stay
no biggie
what I wonder is how she had gotten here and spent her time and our money BEFORE this
I guess that’s the best excuse this ‘judge’ could come up with.
Another freeloader! Yippee!
DEPORT THE BLEEPING JUDGE!!!
What does a news leak have to do with a fair reading of immigration law? The law is not emotional. This judge is little more than a political hack.
I don't get it.
bump
Zeituni needs to be cut off from the American welfare teat and sent back to her Kenyan hut; it’d suit me just fine if Judge Leonard Shapiro would join her there. I believe they’d hit it off.
after walker, is there ANY reson to respect judges?
If she were somehow at risk in Kenya could Raila Odinga not provide any protection?
Is it common that someone who had been repeatedly given deportation orders can still apply for asylum?
Another African leech.
It’s all just cover fluff for letting her stay here on the public dole. Where’s the rule of law? She should have been gone years ago.
“A judge later agreed to suspend her deportation order and reopen her asylum case.”
And that wasn’t because she was related to the President either...hurl
More proof that Lenny Bruce was right...”in the halls of justice, the justice is in the halls”.
