McCollum Gains Big: 12 Points Ahead of Scott
By Jim Meyers
Bill McCollum has opened a 12 percentage-point lead over Rick Scott in his campaign for the Republican nomination for governor in Florida, according to a new poll released by the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
The poll of likely Republican primary voters shows McCollum with 45 percent of the vote, Scott with 33 percent, and roughly 20 percent undecided.
Attorney General McCollum has a comfortable lead over businessman Scott among moderates, 48 percent to 27 percent, as well as conservatives 43 percent to 36 percent, according to the polling firm, McLaughlin & Associates. He also has a huge lead over Scott among Hispanic voters, 52 percent to 21 percent.
A Mason-Dixon poll released last week showed McCollum leading Scott by four percentage points, as did a survey by the Florida Medical Association.
McCollums comeback has amazed political observers and McCollum critics and supporters alike. Some earlier surveys had him trailing Scott by double digits, and as recently as Aug. 4, a Mason-Dixon poll showed Scott leading McCollum by 37 percent to 31 percent.
Voters evidently are becoming increasing concerned about Scotts highly questionable business dealings and his refusal to release a deposition he gave in regard to a lawsuit alleging fraudulent practices at a healthcare company he now heads.
The new allegations likely remind voters of fraudulent practices uncovered at Scotts former company, Columbia/HCA, the nations largest hospital chain.

I do wish I could agree with you on this one, but I can’t, because the truth is that McCullom was NOT against AZ, but supported it when wordings were changed, and that’s enough in my book. Strong Conservative candidate is a question mark, but seems to be more than the other candidates.
And I give him a plus for his stand as the House Member Manager in the late nineties. Just what is lacking right at this moment in Washington D.C. (District of Corruption) where you have nothing than pussycats, including a certain “retired”(?) USAF and FINO on the national threads plus a few other defectors not facing up to the Constitution!!!
Bumping your # 27.....
Thanks Fred for all those great links....Anyone thinking of voting for Rick Scott needs to read this information.
Scott’s shady Medicare fraud connections would be great ammo for the Dems to destroy him!
OOOOPS meant to BUMP your # 31!
This is exactly what Ive been thinking. Im going back to the McCollum side. Scotts background makes me nervous. I only hope McCollum can sink Sink in November.
**********************************************
I saw a poll recently that said McCollum was much stronger than Scott against Sink.
With Jeb’s endorsement and the GOP grassroots behind him, McCollum can beat Sink who would be an Obama-clone.....especially this year!
McCollum, as Attorney General, has opened up a bogus investigation on Scott’s new business.
McCollum has switched positions on illegal immigration.
Along with Clinton, Reno and the Jack-booted justice department, he was in favor of the railroading of Elian Gonzales. Also as a representative, he went along with Clinton on NAFT and GATT.
Hillary was responsible for the suit which took down Columbia HCA. Scott wanted to fight the suit but was overruled by the board of directors.
Vote Scott. McCollum is a consummate, PC, chameleon politician.
Get rid of incumbents!!
