Mark Levin Slams Chris Christie on 9/11 Mosque
Mark Levin ^ | 08/16/2010

Posted on 08/16/2010 7:01:35 PM PDT by Brices Crossroads

Mark Levin today slammed NJ Governor Chris Christie for his sanctimonious attitude that the controversy over the Mosque at ground Zero is "just politics" and "is being used as a political football by BOTH parties!" He says that this attempt By Christie to make the two positions on the mosque (pro and con) equivalent is nothing more than a naked effort to portray himself as "above it all" and look down his nose (so to speak) at those who have the courage to oppose this thing (most prominently former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin--although Levin does not mention her by name).

Levin praised the courage of those who have stood up to Obama and Bloomberg and opposed this mosque. The "Great One" said that Christie was "dead wrong" to link the opposition to the mosque to intolerance.

Quote: "Just becasue you clobber public sector unions and cut your state's budget does not necessarily mean you are Presidential material." Levin also says he is concerned about Christie's immigration positions.

He tells Christie to: "get serious and take a position" rather than being afraid to "get your hands dirty" by taking a position. The clip is only 2:45 and is worthwhile to listen to.

Get a clue, you. Nobody is arguing against property rights or religious freedom, or asking the government to intervene.

It’s all about shaming the Muslim Imam and his pals into backing out on their own out of decency and respect to Americans.

What a novel thought, huh?

What a load. We don’t have any obligation to let them build anything. Any more than we would let the Japanese build a shrine to the Japanese Emperor on Pearl Harbor over the top of the Arizona.

Islam is a statist political ideology bent on world domination, fouled even further by a cult religion veneer. It isn’t any different than fascism or communism, except that it’s more virulent and dangerous than either.

Property rights and free speech don’t extend to those whose well-known and oft-stated goal is the destruction of our nation, its people, and the crushing of liberty.

The Constitution of the United States is not a suicide pact, or a license for fools to get our people killed.

Well Mr. Governor, while it is a much more intimately personal pain for those who lost friends and loved ones, it was not an Attack on NYC! It was an attack on America! ANd we ALL fell pain from it, still, even now.

Were the imam and whoever else is behind this mosgue seriously interested in bringing people together, they would not be planning to pour salt in an open wound, Ground Zero would never have been suggested as a place to build the thing. And were it about religious freedom, would not the Greek Orthodox Church, a landmark in the area, have been rebuilt by now? Why isn’t it? You might want to find out, Sir.

“Where are all of the Federalists and State’s Rights people here? Why do we care what the Governor of one state thinks of the actions of the mayor of a city in another state?”

because for one thing, there has been speculation on whether he would be a good Presidential nominee. Which would make this everyone’s business.

This damages that quite a bit IMHO.

The limits of kooky libertarianism on display:

The Muslims have a right to build a mosque ANYWHERE as long as there is a willing seller and no contracts are violated

Kaaba, Constantinople, Jerusalem, Damascus.....just a few examples of Muslim mosques over religious sites of others after conquest.

I suppose you could call that a contract.........I'm certain the libertarian cowards of their day agreed quite heartily.

The leaders of anti-Mosque hysteria remind me of my Nervous Nellie “sensitive” PC friends who are endlessly offended by everything including smokers, wavers of Confederate flags, people posing in pictures with guns, etc. A price of free speech and property rights is that you will sometime have your “feelings” hurt. The anti-Mosque crusaders need to man up and be more thick skinned.

What a Jack-Ass!

Dang, I had high hopes for Mr. Christie.

Perhaps he'll learn from this.

Where do you think zoning laws play into this.

Topless bars next to day care centers OK with you?

Habitual sex offenders counseling center next door to a junior high school?

Trekkies costume and collectibles emporium next to a Biker Bar?

Governor Christie was alreadu soft on illegal alien immigration, but I was sure willing to hear him better articulate his positions and now I’m reading on other related threads that he’s soft on the 2nd Amendment.

I’d like to hear from the man himself on the aforementioned issues, but he’s not looking as good as I thought yesterday. This one was easy, and he failed miserably.

More like repressive....

:-(

There's a whole longer list, including lots of other religions spots.

I'm sorry, those who cite the constitution as a suicide pact need to go move to Mecca and try to go build a libertarian hall.......

Well, I *can’t* live with Christie’s comments. SHAME ON HIM, that a Governor of New Jersey should have such an attitude!

9/11 is about America, first and foremost. It’s also about New York and NEW JERSEY.

How many of those 3,000 innocent people were from Jersey? When all public transportation was halted, Jersey Transit coming in from the Hudson to the World Trade Center was impacted. Many people were rescued from lower Manhattan (remember the choaking dust plumes?) by ferries to Jersey. How many watched the Twin Towers burn and collapse from the Jersey shoreline?

Christie’s reaction reminds me of Dukakis’ bloodlessly well reasoned answer to the debate question regarding his possible attitude towards capital punishment if his wife was ever raped and murdered.

Well, I’m not throwing the dude overbord yet, but that was kind of pathetic and very far from what we’ve seen from him to date.

Thanks, Mark. You are right again.

Such a shame that Christie doesn’t realize the damage he is doing to America by ignoring the immigration issue and the rule of law and ignoring the unconstitutional elements of the religion of “peace”.

Define peace: When everyone bows to allah and gets rid of the American constitution and practice sharia law......

Think of the future and your children, Christie. This country was designed for freedom and the Rule of Law, not slavery and chaos.

Christie is absolutely right on this. It could very well just be one more attempt by Barak Obama to divert Americans from looking at the incredibly perilous situation we have in this country and recognize how impotent he is to fix it.

Additionally it further splits Americans and almost requires them to take sides. Mr. Obama is a professional splitter and further division and fragmentation is the last thing America needs at this time.

The fact is the whole issue consists of opinions and one person's guess is as good is the next and it is a terrible thing to waste time on a bunch of opinions which may or may not be correct and even if one side of the other proves correct we can all be sure there will be unintended consequences which we can ill afford.

And the best part of the mess is that there is no way on earth that any one can reasonably predict the outcome----so why in the world should anyone except New Yorkers waste precious time?

If our poor president was not such a narcissist throwing caution to the wind in order to get "face time" and or "air space" he should have had the brains to know this is the kind of battle that hangs men on their own petards.

I wonder if his entering the fray might just be his Waterloo and truly Divine Intervention.

I wouldn’t say offended, since that cheapens the outrage most Americans feel on this issue.

I have personally spent much time studying verses from the Qu’ran. The Qu’ran, unlike the Bible, which had multiple authors, was written by one lone man, living in a cave. A man who took child brides. A man who not only gave permission for jihad, a man who demanded it of his followers. So for me, it’s not just this mosque, it is all of them, especially in America. Since our American belief system, and our political system, is utterly incompatible with the teachings of Mohammed. So why are they here at all?
I’ll tell you why.

They are here in smaller number for now. So they pretend to be friends, and peace loving. But in the years ahead, as they become larger in number, they will become bolder. More and more demands will be placed on America to accomodate them, and their “religion.” As we all know, this process has already begun.

America, as a one of the largest majority Christian nations, is the ultimate target for Islam. So they come here in peace pretending to be friends, planting seeds, growing in numbers, and building mosques. All the while taking advantage of our laws, and our PC’ness.

They are not here because our belief system, our economic system, and our political system is compatible with theirs.
They are here to fulfill Mohammed’s command. To convert the world to Islam, to rule the entire world under Sharia law.

If they can conquer America, the rest of the world will fold easily.

Are you willing to take this chance? If so, then it’s time you began studying the Qu’ran. As you do, keep in mind that Mohammed had a rule. Whatever he said later in verses contradicting himself in his earlier teachings, was the new law.

We should be all outraged. We are under attack.

I see leftists and Islamists as the same thing. Yes, in many ways the left is more dangerous.
