Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said this weekend that he is "absolutely" running for reelection next year. The Louisiana governor, who has sometimes been mentioned as a GOP presidential candidate in 2012, said he fully intends to seek a second term. "I'm absolutely running for reelection," Jindal said during an interview with a local NBC affiliate. "You know, there's been a lot of speculation: would I run for another office, would I go to Washington, D.C.? I'm interested in helping to lead our state."

I have a lot of respect and admiration for Jindal. I could easily cast a vote for him for President. Though I hardly blame him his decision is saddening.

What the GOP lacks in 2012 is somebody who is both intellectually strong AND dependably conservative.

Gov. Jindal is making the right move here. He should stay in his current office and do his best for Louisiana for five more years. At that point he will be much more experienced and somewhat better known nationally, but he’ll still be quite young. Then he can look toward the Senate, the White House, or whatever else. Louisiana needs a good Governor, Bobby is a good Governor, let it ride.

According to PPP poll, Bobby Jindal is the most popular governor in all 50 states, with 58% approval rating in LA.
He also received a 70% approval for the job done with BP oil
spill.
