The Tancredo-ite immigration position has yet to demonstrate that it can win an election - any election, anywhere.

So how did Tancredo manage to get elected and reelected for a total of 5 terms. Do you even have an idea as to what Tancredo's position is? Have you ever heard of the immigration caucus in Congress headed by Bilbray? Steve King is a stalwart on immigration along with Chaffetz of Utah. Bennett lost in Utah in the primary to Lee who is strong on immigration.

Tancredo deserves full credit for bringing immigration to the fore. Take a look at the public's support for AZ or the Dems and Rinos who are now backtracking on immigration issues. McCain had the chutzpah to say he never supported amnesty in his latest campaign. Congress just passed another border security bill similar to what they did in 2006 with the Secure Fence Act dusring the runup to the midterms. The are a large number of bills at the state level cracking down on illegal immigration. Poll after poll shows the public on the side of Tancredo when it comes to immigration issues.

And before you call me names - prove me wrong and win an election.

Toughness on immigration did not cost candidates their election

Perhaps you can explain why you always lose, then.

From 1986 to yesterday, the course of immigration policy has been worse and worse. What the booboisie demands, it gets. Just look at low taxes and high public spending as two examples.

So, if the public is on your side on this question, you really need a better explanation of reality.

Not to nitpik but Tancredo represented one of the most conservative districts in CO. That’s why he won over and over and why he has backing today.

Tancredo, right or wrong, has alienated the Hispanic vote to the extent that you can eliminate any support coming from that special interest group. Unless there are more overwhelming negatives for Maes, Tancredo will simply split the vote. If more comes out, Republicans in CO are going to have difficult time electing Maes for anything.

do people presume that the GOP candidate is a RINO simply because Tancredo is in the race?

And also, if the difference is 12 points, and Tancredo is getting 18 points, does it take a genius to figure out that the GOP would win with Tancredo out?

Finally, so Tancredo won his own congressional district. Great. Glad he represented his district as a conservative.

But winning your own state Senate, State Assembly, Congressional district doesn’t make you a viable statewide candidate

Tom McClintock (R-Calif) is a tremendous politician, a great guy, and I’d vote for him — and have — anytime (He was one of the GOP candidates in the recall election against Gray Davis and he’s been a statewide candidate since then, and I voted for him those two or three other times as well)

Still, just ask Tom McClintock how many statewide races he’s won in the general election. (Hint: The number of McClintock statewide victories in California is <1)

“So how did Tancredo manage to get elected and reelected for a total of 5 terms. “

It’s easy, even a lame slug, an 89-year-old drooling ex-klansman, morons and other corruptocrats get elected.
Seriously dumba** Congresscritters have managed to get re-elected simply because their district is drawn to elect the person of their party, and tis very hard to beat an incumbent in a primary.

“Tancredo deserves full credit for bringing immigration to the fore. “

True.
