Colorado Governor: Hickenlooper (D) 43%, Maes (R) 31%, Tancredo (ACP) 18%
Rasmussen Reports ^ | August 13, 2010 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 08/15/2010 5:25:08 AM PDT by Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus

Democratic candidate John Hickenlooper now holds a double-digit lead in the three-way race for governor of Colorado.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Colorado Voters finds Hickenlooper, the mayor of Denver, with 43% support. Businessman Dan Maes, the winner of Tuesday’s Republican Primary, captures 31% of the vote, while American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo trails with 18%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

This is the first poll conducted since Maes won the Republican primary.

It shows Maes with a bit more support than he had before the primary and Tancredo with a bit less support.

Hickenlooper’s level of support has been fairly steady for months, but he has clearly benefitted from Tancredo’s entry in the race which splits the Republican vote. The Democrat had run roughly even with Maes in two earlier surveys.

Colorado is turning purple and will be eventually blue due to immigration, legal and illegal. Demography is destiny.

We have a RAT ringer in *our* Governor's race and as a result,Coupe Deval...our breathtakingly unpopular Governor...is expected to win with about 40% of the vote.

Isn't that how Deval was elected in the first place? Wasn't it Christy Mihos last time?

“Let Maes drop out and using your logic, Tancredo would win.”

Excellent point. Let Dan “What do you want me to say so I can get elected” Maes drop out. We know where Tancredo stands; we don’t know where Dan stands.

Tom Tancredo did not want to run against in incumbent (Bill Ritter). Ritter stated he was not going to run for re-election the first week of January of 2010, so hmmmmm why didn’t Tancredo run on a conservative platform as a Republican candidate if he wanted to serve the good people of Colorado deal with the burgeoning problem of illegal mexican immigrants?

[Tancredo also supports legalization of marijuana and homosexual marriage.]

Tancredo’s a RINO that supports homosexual marriage? Didn’t know that.

Got a link?

“Republicans did NOT have 8 years. The dems were controlling congress for six of those 8 years.”

How much of those Dem bills did “W” veto? Try NONE for the longest time. If I remember correctly, Bush vetoed nearly nothing his entire term. So much for a strong Republican that would fight back. All we got was a limp dishrag that was afraid of horses! All hat, no cattle Bush.

People think Colorado is purple, but in the last 2-4 years, it is blue blue blue. Too many Kalifornians have moved in along with illegal immigrants. I believe the only thing that has saved CO from financial destruction as seen in CA due to government incompetence is TABOR. As soon as the dems can find a way to overturn or render TABOR useless, we will go the way of CA.

Why do you think Maes isn’t a conservative?

“Oh I remember that shooting. I didn’t realize that was Chickenlooper’s restaurant.”

For those not in the know, the illegal alien that shot two cops was an employee of Mayor Hickenlooper’s resaurant in downtown denver. Hickenlooper also refuesd to denounce knowingly hiring the illegal alien stating that illegals deserve jobs, too.

I looked and did see it so I’ll keep looking. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. What I referred to was my listening to Tancredo on the Peter Boyles program on KNOW in the morning. Peter is strongly pro homosexual marriage and pro marijuana and Tom was going along with him on both issues.

How can anybody call Tom Tancredo a conservative?

He endorsed Mitt Romney for President.

Vote for evil, you get evil.

And you’re deceiving yourself if you think evil is going to give you anything.

Why do you say that....Hickpooper has only 43%...you expect the 18% with Tancredo to switch to the pooper?

“Why do you think Maes isn’t a conservative?”

Because he claims to be a conservative but then has all these wishy-washy excuses, such as on illegal aliens he believes “...we should provide some path to citizenship to bring people out of that underworld.” That is a liberal viewpoint, not a conservative one.

He believes Colorado simply didn’t “enroll” in eVerify and that would take care of the problem. He seeks political correct solutions that do not work. He will do nothing but make excuses for 4 years as to why things are not getting done.

He is about as sharp and experienced as a bowling ball. He honestly believes as governor he can get rid of the state employees union, remove Planned Parenthood by stroke of the pen, etc. He is completely clueless about politics.

So what do you suggest as a solution to the downward slide always brought on by democratic control in all three branches of state government? I’m not being a smart-ass or trying to pick a fight, but the conservative purist approach is not working and all it has brought to the local and state level is more democratic rule.

Dick Wad and et. al surely aren’t bringing candidates forward that fully represent conservative constitutional values, and those endorsed and put forward by the tea parties (Maes and Buck)are not getting the full support of the GOP or of conservatives.

What constructive concrete steps do we take as conservatives, to try and bring CO to a more conservative place?

I’ve come to believe that Republicans assume that people know the differentiation of the three branches of government and what role each plays. I guarantee that the average dumbass American doesn’t know this information and couldn’t tell you what is the role of the legislative branch.

You illustrate perfectly how the GOP treats conservatives when they do everything asked of them to support the “electable” candidate. Even on a site like FR, it’s always the “conservative’s” fault when a Lib(R) loses to a Lib(D).

Outstanding.

Frankly, I find this thread sickening and all the bashing against Tancredo. These people are just like the leftists who interrupt Tancredo every chance they get, to silence him. I know, I've been at a few of those events. The lefties disguised themselves as members of the crowd, but they're usually fairly easy to spot.
