President Barack Obama’s senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 81st Bud Billiken Parade. (Happened today)
Parade Grand Marshal and presidential advisor Valerie Jarrett exhorted children to get an education, while emcees riding floats for local radio stations led chants of "stay in school" over booming bass lines.
Additionally, Mayor Richard Daley told reporters that the families with young children in attendance understand the importance of hitting the books.
"Education is the great equalizer," he said.

Saw this on the local Chicago news. Valerie was yelling something at a reporter about Obama telling her that being the Grand Marshall of the Bud Billikin parade means she has really “arrived.” Oh, poop.

I’m in Chicago this weekend for the first time ever. I was sitting in Starbucks this morning having a coffee and reading FR when I started to notice this constant swarm of people heading towards Michigan Ave. I realized they were going to see the Bud Billikan parade.
I feel sorry for you. I have no idea who that is, but by the photo posted here, I don’t want to know. Might as well have been a Gay Pride parade. Left wing, I’m sure.
