It is espescially useful to the cause of common sense that the “oil industry analyst” who kept feeding many of the most ridiculous theories (peak oil) and was advocating the most absurd ways to shut in the well (using a nuke) is now dead. We won’t have to hear his special brand of idiocy any more.

My analysis from the get-go was something like this; The earth is 8000 miles in diameter. The idea that drilling a 1 foot diameter hole a couple of miles into the crust could release something that would cause widespread destruction defies common sense.

“Oil is lighter than water and rises above it in all known situations on this planet. The idea of underwater plumes defies everything that we know about physical laws and has distressed me from the outset about these unscientific reports.”

This claim bothered me from the get-go. Not being an oil expert I didn't feel qualified to challenge the CW.

Guess I should have had more faith in my own common sense.

Didn’t read the long article, but Rush did a great job explaining this Friday. The hysteria created by Obama and the MSM portrayed the entire situation incorrectly from Day 1, looking for apocalyptic disasters in every aspect of the spill, when in reality little environmental damage was ever realized beyond parts of the Louisiana marshes.

And now the oil can scarcely be found and the damage is not even a fraction of what Obama and the MSM portrayed (or hoped for), but businesses all along the Gulf have been needlessly damaged by the hysteria, and the Gulf oil industry is shut down for no valid reason.

A monumental and very damaging screw-up by Obama and the MSM, but it will take a lot of persistent effort to get the word out to the American people. Obama and the MSM sure as hell won’t point out the record of their abysmal performance throughout the entire several months.

Yea and there were plenty of idiots here on FR (and still are) still parroting these idiotic claims. Was suprised to see so many Chicken Littles here on FR.

Thing that got me was people seemed to just react - react - react.
Without asking serious questions like “What is the total volume of water in the gulf?” or looking at the history of large oil spills and other environmental disasters.

Heck, I live almost exactly 70 miles due north of one the the largest environmental disasters in the last 10,000 years. But now the trees, the fish, the squirrels and all other lifeforms are coming back. Mt. St. Helens.

If they can’t kill off all the bed bugs in the hotels in NYC, no dam way are they going to kill off all the shrimp in the gulf!!

The hysteria was even reported here on FR. I remember those quoting Revelation about the “seas turning red” and those talking about the gas from the well being so toxic that it knocked flying birds out of the air. Of course if you looked at the sources posted from, they were all environmental wackos.

Mass hysteria, is common throughout history.

I don’t necessarily think it’s all the peoples fault.

For something like 90 days in a row, just about every news program on the planet started with news about “the worst environmental disaster in the history of mankind”.

The media prey on hysteria and misinformation and exaggeration. They are NOT to be trusted!

Certainly it is primarily the fault of the traitors in the media. That is not a new thing.

But it is something that surprised me here. We had long discussions that seemed to go nowhere. Most of us knew better, but some were sucked in by the hype.

What do you expect?

AP = Aways Propaganda

ABC, CBS, NBC = The Three Blind Mice

CNN = Commie News Nothing

MSNBC = Lib City

Fox is generally much better, but some subjects are simply taboo by them.

If it were not for the web, we would still be deluded daily by these cretin.

I smell Bravo Sierra. Obama used the spill to shill a crisis to justify destroying yet another segment of America’s economy by imposing a moratorium on oil drilling.

At the same time the Manchurian Candidate From Mecca was imposing costs totaling billions on America, he gave a two billion buck subsidy to Soros and the Brazilian deep drilling industry.

Treasonous lil’ bachelor’s child, isn’t he?

Those folks don’t have a job because of their research capabilities.

They have jobs because of their haircuts.

One of the first things I did was hit Google and typed in “Amoco Cadiz”

After about an hour online, I was convinced this incident was a blip - especially since one halfway decent tropical storm would scrub that stuff away like it never existed!

Look for record shrimp and fish harvests for the next three years or so. Something is going to eat all those bacteria that digested the oil.
And shrimp are filter feeders!

I don’t care for shrimp, but my wife loves them.

I prefer Mud Bugs.

But hey, it all worked out. Hussein got to extort $20 billion from British Petroleum.

And shoot, that’s not counting what probably went into his Swiss bank account.

Now that we know there’s oil down there and a “worst case scenario” can be solved...it’s time to sink another well nearby and extract the oil. What say you BP and government neo-fascists?
