Miller Surging Past Murkowski in Alaska? (By the numbers)
Vanity | 08/14/2010 | Brices Crossroads

Posted on 08/14/2010 12:04:26 PM PDT by Brices Crossroads

Two weeks ago, on July 30, 2010, I posted the attached critique of the puff piece in the Washington Post on Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski by Journolister and Palin basher Jason Horowitz, which notes her many liberal Democrat friends and admirers in Alaska, including Palin antagonists/Obama operatives Ethan Berkowitz and Hollis French.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2562416/posts

The only poll, which is highly suspect, was commissioned by Berkowitz, a big liberal friend of Murkowski who ran against the Palin/Parnell ticket for Lieutenant Governor in 2006 and got clobbered. Berkowitz is now running in the Democrat Primary for Governor but somehow he had the money to pay for a poll of the GOP Senate Primary! The poll was taken July 7-11, two weeks after Sarah Palin endorsed Miller. It showed Murkowski ahead 62-30. So if we are to believe this poll, then Palin's endorsement of Miller actually seems to have HURT him in Alaska.

In the past two weeks, I have seen no polling done on the Alaska race. But I did note that the Facebook numbers on July 31 were:

Facebook Race between Miller and Murkowski, scion of Alaska’s first family and incumbent 8 year U.S. Senator(as of July 31):

Miller: 1799

Murkowski: 2244

The current numbers (8/14/2010) show Miller surging past Murkowski in the last two weeks:

Miller: 2765

Murkowski: 2328

Lisa Murkowski has added just 84 friends in two weeks to what is an anemic total for a sitting U.S. Senator whose family has been in politics for decades. Joe Miller, her upstart Challenger, has added 966, over 10 times her total and is far, far ahead of her.

Questions: 1)Is Berkowitz's push poll the fishwrap we have come to expect from the Alaska Democrat Party whenever Sarah Palin is involved in a race? and

2)Are the RINO Murkowski's days in Washington numbered?

Yow! Talk about cognitive dissonance!

Can Facebook nembers be considered a reasonable reflection of real-life? As it obviously is not confined to Alaskan likely voters.

“Can Facebook nembers be considered a reasonable reflection of real-life?”

They are more reliable than a poll of the GOP primary by A DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR especially when that polls shows the candidate endorsed by Sarah Palin in her home state doing miserably in contradistinction to very other race in which she has been involved.

Yeah, and as for the Palin endorsement not hurting him, could it not be possible that people in Alaska ARE angry with her for leaving the State?

Yes, that is possible...in your dreams.

Something that most non-Alaskans don’t know. The Republican primary election is THE election.

The DemocRat candidate doesn’t have any reasonable chance of winning a statewide election, barring truly extraordinary circumstances.

According to the most recent poll of hte Alaska Tea Prty Express of 1223 Alaskans last weekend, Miller had surged 23 points to within 9. He is probably pulling even with Murkowski now. She is a bad candidate with a lot of baggage, some of it her own and some belonging to her father.

Look at post 13. The trend is to Miller. Primaries are always difficult to poll. Intensity and turnout are what count and Miller has the intensity. Palin’s organization in Alaska should help him turn the vote out. Remember...the last time a Murkowski was on the ballot, he got skunked 51-19. Palin was behind that one as well.

The Murkowskis are not very formidable in GOP primaries. The grassroots Alaska GOP is VERY conservative. And the Murkowskis are not very conservative. Especially Lisa. She has more Dem friends than GOP ones as the article in WAPO points out.

“The blonde looks a bit, um, wild-eyed.”

And what would be wrong with THAT?;)

Since I posted this, the numbers have changed. Lisa Murkowski had 2328. She now has 2327 (someone must have unfriended her).

Joe Miller had 2765. He now has 2825. He seems to be growing growing exponentially. Murkowski, on the other hand, seems to be DEAD IN THE WATER....and sinking fast.

LOLOLOL

You would think that some people that voted against Palin, would now lover her for leaving, but guess you can't win.

I can ask Eska what he’s hearing about the Murkowski/Miller race, but he just checked in here yesterday, so I don’t know hen he’ll see this ping.

Do you think Joe Miller will pull out a win against Murkowski?

Any news that Sarah will be in Alaska to campaign with and for Joe? What about Todd?
