Politico: Bush aide (Michael Gerson) backs Obama on mosque
Politico ^ | August 14, 2010 | Ben Smith and Mike Allen (JouroListas)

EXCERPT

A former senior Bush aide, chief speechwriter Michael Gerson, told POLITICO last night that he supports Obama's decision.

"An enormously complex and emotional issue -- but ultimately the right thing to do," Gerson said. "A president is president for every citizen, including every Muslim citizen. Obama is correct that the way to marginalize radicalism is to respect the best traditions of Islam and protect the religious liberty of Muslim Americans. It is radicals who imagine an American war on Islam. But our conflict is with the radicals alone."

This is the kind of game the liberals play. They find some nut that can be associated in some way with a Republican, and they use his as a spokesman for Republicans while they claim that their nutty ideas are really GOP ideas.

I love how every single other story this year involving anyone connected to Bush was a negative one, except on THIS issue suddenly being connected to Bush is a good thing.

gerson was bush’s big amnesty guy. gerson fomented
the “just trying to make a better life.” argument.
big on compassionate conservatism. he’s one of the guys
that helped make bush unpopular with his own base.

Poor Bush! He was just truly naive and took the advice of his betters after the first couple of days and seriously thought that by flattering Muslims he’d get the “moderates” to come out and control the - well, the rest of them.

There is no “moderate” in Islam. Its scriptures, law and the whole dynamic are directed towards conquest. That’s what Bush, whose specialty was not world religions, never wanted to acknowledge.

And now the poor guy is being blamed for the WTC mosque.

Here is my headline, Osama Bin laden supports the President on the New York construction of the Mosque. His spokesman said he and the President also agree on the pull out in Iraq, that America is a Muslim nation not Christian and that America is racist against all peoples accept tea party members.

Mr Liberal:

You cannot defend your atrocious choice for President by using an underling from a previous administration......especially since your atrocious choice for President constantly blames the previous administration for every wrong that exists in the world.

Conservatives know right from wrong. This mosque is wrong. By naming it the “Cordoba Initiative”, the veil has been lifted.

It doesn’t matter how many members of the previous administration you present, this does not make this right.

Gerson is not generally considered to be a Liberal, and he's certainly not a RINO. He's never been a registered Democrat or run for public office.

What he may best be described as is OFF HIS MEDS.

Gerson probably hasn't thought this through much at all, and he's most likely totally ignorant of Islam and its history.

Politico is a propaganda rag for Democrats. Oh, I feel much better now that they ran out to find a Republican who would support this mess. Politico can go to Hell.

Michael Gerson is an op ed columnist for the Wa Po, thus a member of the ruling class.

Typical liberal BS!

One Republican on board equals a bipartisan decision.

I am getting the feeling that if this mosque is ever built, a huge mob of angry, everyday Americans is going to show up there and tear it down brick-by-brick with their bare hands.

This disingenuous screed about tolerance and religious freedom is libs spinning speech again to make THEIR point. Muslims may have legal access to build their Coronado mosque; they do not have the moral right. They know it and are pushing the envelope because THAT IS WHAT THEY DO!.

Someone yesterday (at least I read/heard it yesterday, made the point that an order of nuns wanted to build a convent close by Auschwitz to pray for the victims. The Jews took exception, so they backed off because they truly cared for the victims and their families, and did not want to hurt or antagonize.

The name Coronado for this mosque at Ground Zero is very telling. Coronado, Spain was the very first outpost when the Muslims overran Spain. It was their spearhead for their takeover. If anyone thinks naming this mosque Coronado is coincidental, they should set up an ice store in Alaska.

Every person connected to Bush or other Republicans, no matter how peripheral the relationship, is always considered important and representational of them. Yet is 0bama ever measured by his CLOSE personal friends, associates, colleagues, and advisors?
