East Texas Congressman and Anderson Cooper argue over 'terror babies'
Fort Worth Star-Telegram ^ | 8/13/10 | Aman Batheja

People who say that cable TV news is just people talking over each other have some solid evidence with this clip from Anderson Cooper 360.

U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, came on Cooper's CNN show last night to talk about the notion spread by himself and state Rep. Debbie Riddle, R-Tomball, that terrorists are planning attacks more than a decade in advance by traveling illegally into the United States, giving birth to U.S. citizens, then raising the babies as terrorists-in-the-making.

Cooper had Riddle on his show earlier this week for a segment that has gone viral.

Gohmert was less patient with Cooper than Riddle. He immediately began talking over Cooper and accusing him of "killing the messenger" by ridiculing Gohmert's "terror babies" plot.

For most of the segment, the two men talked over each other because neither was willing to let the other complete their argument...

What's the difference between "news" programming and the Jerry Springer show these days?

This is why I’ve given up on the “opinion” news shows including the Fox nightly line up. It’s just different people arguing over each other about the same subjects night after night. I saw a clip of a 1962 episode of Meet the Press and it was people arguing about the same issues we see nightly on Hannity, etc. Nothing changes but the faces.

For the last year, I’ve pretty much given up watching O’Reilly and Hannity for the reasons you mentioned. However, the best, bar none, political show on any cable station is Greta’s on Fox...no yelling, no talking over each other...no panels...long segments, between 5-10 minutes..and one on one with a guest....she allows them time to speak....

Anderson Cooper holds a BA in wordsmithing from Yale liberal arts college and is an ex=game show host...ROFL

Gohmert is an ex-judge and judge advocate in the US military. Also he has access to confidential intelligence that Anderson wouldn’t even USE if he had it and it did support a national security hole.

Plus Gohmert had the audacity to introduce HR 1503 to amend electoral ballot qualifications to include a birth certificate.

So ex-game show host Cooper got his marching orders from Axelfraud to demonize Gohmert.

Sorry, Cooper, NO BANANA!

Greta has grown on me also, and as my husband says...you can see the lawyer in her....because she really drills her “guests.”

Totally agree with you. My wife & I were talking about that last night. I would have never thought that a few years ago that I'd like Greta & her show so much...but I do.

I get nothing out of watching two people (sometimes more) casting insults in each others’ faces and talking over one another at the top of their lungs.

It becomes TOO emotional and ‘where there is emotion, there is NO substance.’ Right?

It has be more than 3 years since I watched ANY of that stuff.

Doesn’t matter where the little jihadi is born. It gets the same hate-filled indoctrination no matter where it is born.

Agree with all of you on Greta — she lets both sides get their thought out and when she says “Thanks for being here tonight” she appears to really mean it. proof would be her access and lengthy interviews.

Bret Baier’s All-Star panel on Special Report is excellent as well. Bret has done a good job taking over from Brit Hume - those were BIG shoes to fill.

Is that what that was about last night? I surfed by CNN last night, and Cooper was fein-bulging mad. I thought maybe someone was on making arguments about Gay marriage or something. I surfed on, as I usually do when I see Anderson Gay on the tube.

I agree..but that’s more of a news show..with a breif panel...as opposed to Greta’s one hour gig..Re Bret..I wish they’d ditch Juan “dumb as a rock” Williams, and let Krauthammer give a 15 minute commentary each night..
