NBC's Todd Proclaims If GOP Wins in November It's Still 'A Bad Election Night For All of Wash.
NewsBusters ^ | 8/12/10 | Geoffrey Dickens

Posted on 08/12/2010 11:56:13 AM PDT by Nachum

On Thursday's Today show, NBC's chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd started building the narrative for the liberal media to spout in case the Republicans win majorities in the House and Senate in the upcoming midterms - that the voters are just cranky about everyone and everything. Todd even went on to absurdly state that if the GOP has a big win it will still be seen as a "A bad election night for all of Washington." All of Washington? Even for the party that is victorious?

Todd, on with Today co-anchor Ann Curry, came up with that conclusion after reciting results from a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll that showed "Everybody is angry at all things Washington" as Todd noted "Democrats hit an all-new high in their negative rating. Republicans have even a higher negative rating. The Tea Party, which had enjoyed a positive rating for awhile, now they have a negative rating." Todd, then, went on to prematurely throw cold water on any sort of GOP win as he claimed: "If the Republicans get the majorities, it's because people have decided to go into the ballot box and hold their nose, they're not happy with anybody."

The following is the full transcript of the segment as it was aired on the August 12 Today show:

It would be great fun to watch them trying to hide how mortified they are.

I plan on a big popcorn night.

“A bad election night for all of Washington” is EXACTLY the same as a good election night for the rest of the country.

Didn’t Peter Jennings say something similar the last time the GOP creamed the Dems? “Last night America threw a tantrum” or something to that effect, like a bunch of stupid children acting on emotion instead of logic.

Chuck Todd is totally biased. He’s a Democrat lover and apologist. But even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then:

“If the Republicans get the majorities, it’s because people have decided to go into the ballot box and hold their nose, they’re not happy with anybody.”

He’s right with that one. Republicans were tossed out in 06 and 08, and have done nothing to change their image.

I think he is right to a point... I am not currently happy with the Republicans because they are not doing much besides saying no, which I admit they have done pretty well. The real test will come AFTER the election ... if a Republican controlled congress actually sends a healthcare repeal bill to Obama for him to veto... and if it also gets serious about deporting the illegals... THEN I will be happy with them... but until then... I am just rolling the dice hoping that they learned something and will do what needs to be done this time and no more of this gang of 7 crap.

He's wrong.

I will not be holding my nose. I will be voting with MUCH enthusiasm, as will MANY other conservatives across the country.

Yah, Peter Jennings said after the 1994 elections "Imagine a nation full of uncontrolled two-year-old rage. The voters had a temper tantrum last week.... I remember being shocked to see him say it, I was younger then ...

I refuse to put on blinders and gleefully vote for a party that’s abused my trust. Republicans are better than Democrats, but in some cases, not by much.

What has the GOP done to win your favor since they got thrown out for being big government, high spenders?

I’ll vote R, with my a clothespin on my nose. Trust me, there are many like me.
