WASHINGTON, D.C., August 11, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) -- GOProud, which bills itself as the "only national organization representing gay conservatives," has announced that well-known conservative author Ann Coulter is headlining their first annual "Homocon."
The announcement shocked both advocates of traditional family values and homosexualist advocates of "gay rights," who have previously attacked Coulter for her supposedly homophobic language and beliefs.
Christopher Barron, Chairman of the Board of GOProud, said he could think of no "conservative more fun to headline our inaugural party then the self-professed right-wing Judy Garland--Ann Coulter." Judy Garland is an icon among homosexuals.
The gay left has done their best to take all the fun out of politics, with their endless list of boycotts and protests," said Barron. "Homocon is going to be our annual effort to counter the no fun police on the left."
The GOProud "party" will be taking place Saturday, September 25, in New York City. Sponsorships of the event, which include two tickets, are available for $2500, while general admission tickets go on sale August 20th for $250.
Peter La Barbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) said that Coulter should reconsider her appearance at the event. "As a fan of Ann Coulter, it pains me to see her cave in to political correctness and lend credibility to the phony homosexual "conservatives" over at GOProud," he stated.
He said that half of GOProud's top 10 federal priorities center on advancing homosexuality. The federal legislative priorities that GOProud endorses include repealing the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" ban on homosexuals serving in the military, "defending" the Constitution by "opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment," and changing the tax code in a way that "will provide equity for gays and lesbians."

No, she did that when she dated Bill Maher.
;-)
Does Ann have another new book coming out? It would explain the appearance as nothing but self promotion.
True. I'll withdraw my snarky "baited breath" comment. But, I still think an Obama "spelling police" bureaucracy is a possibility.
it’s refreshing to see someone who gets it - thank you
“Why don’t we find out what she says first?
Indeed. I can see her getting booed at this event.”
#####
Well if she isn’t, and I mean ROUNDLY booed, then YES, we can indeed say good-bye to AC.
I am disappointed that Ann has accepted the keynote address at GOPride. It certainly sends the WRONG signal IF she is, as she has claimed, a “social Conservative.”
I don’t care that she has criticized the excesses of the so-called birthers. So have I. ANd her personal life is her own — so long as it stays strictly personal. But, if she were to “come out,” (which I cannot imagine because, what a waste!) the she would disqualify herself as a champion of a true Conservative message.
Conservatism is based on a combination of MORAL, social AND a economic foundations. Were Ann to “come out,” she would destroy her credibility on at least one and perhaps two of those bases. That would be sad, but true, nevertheless.
I await Ann’s comments at GOPride. It was a mistake to agree to speak there. Now that she has agreed to speak, it will be educational and revealing to hear her message — not about Conservatism as a movement, but about Ann Coulter and HER message. It’s saf to say that she has never made a more important speech.
Very well said - I could not agree more.
I know and count as my friends gay Conservatives. Social AND fiscal Conservatives all. Yes it is possible, it does happen and if I’d simply turned my back on them only knowing they were gay, I’d never have found out what their political beliefs were.
I assumed they had to be liberal and I was wrong.
This group does seem to pick and choose parts of Conservatism and the Constitution they want to promote; which if fine. The NRA is 2nd Amendment, Heritage Foundation 1St Amendment etc etc. Advocating for a certain Constitutional position is not a problem. Just don’t pick and choose. If they actively work towards stripping one right to promote another, I’ll have a problem with them.
of course that is not what they are all about now is it.
Yeah, she's walking among scum just like that guy 2000 years ago. Hmmm. What was his name again?
Keeping my powder dry until we hear what Ann says.
Or she can say goodbye to me bacause I'll damn sure be gone from her audience.
nice!!!
Define “sodomite”
I am intrested in seeing what your definition is
On FR all things are possible. ;-)
Ann turned my stomach a couple of weeks ago when she glorified the black woman who was fired by the Dept of Agriculture. Without doing her homework, she lapped up the liberal spin, regurgitated it on TV, and hurt the situation by talking like a RINO.
Something’s going haywire ...
FR stands against homosexuality. Firmly against their agenda.
Uh noob. Do you think she's going there to preach the Good News? LOLOL!!!!
I think that for thousands of years it has meant homosexuals to almost everyone, I know that has been the case in America. As usual I’m sure that the left has some water muddying that they want to inject into the language again.
Yeah, I know. I was making the point that you shouldn’t assume this group are seeking the most constitutional ends.
How could they when seeking special status because of who they have sex with?
