Jack Kingston: Sarah Palin should ‘butt out’ of state races
AJC ^ | 8/11/10 | Jim Galloway

Posted on 08/11/2010 11:59:32 AM PDT by pissant

On “America’s Morning News” – a web-based talk show sponsored by Human Events – U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston was drawn into a discussion of Georgia’s Republican runoff for governor.

Would you have preferred that Sarah Palin butt out of it, Kingston was asked? “I wish she will,” Kingston said. But never mind the grammar – it was live radio. He continued:

“Because what’s she’s doing is dividing the Republican party at a time when we don’t need to be divided.

“Because in a case like this, really what people were saying – ‘Well, she’s endorsing Karen Handel because she’s a woman.’ [Palin] got up on stage on Monday and said, ‘I’m not doing it because she’s a woman – although she is a sister.’ You know — wink, wink.

“And I understand that. But what it does is, it makes Republicans say, well, maybe we do need to rethink Karen Han – I mean, Sarah Palin, as somebody who does shoot from the hip a little bit too much. Because I think Karen Handel is a very decent candidate, but she’s clearly the more moderate person in the race….”

>>One guy of the “conservative base.” Not much in the scheme of things.<<

You have absolutely no idea just how much I agree with that statement - and its implications.

But then, I am having a plaque custom made (locally, of course) for my new farm in Kentucky that occupies one finger of a plateau that says “Galt’s Plateau”.

The solution to our problems is not political. They must run their course and I have no doubt it is gonna hurt. A lot.

“It will get ugly at primary time, but getting rid of that thing in the WH will unite people.”

.
Ugly at primary time is a healthy thing.

I like Sarah. I liked her going back to the days I first heard about her in the NRA mag. I do not like the NRA now. They are sell outs.

McCain using McCain Feingold destroyed this country electing a Dem Congress 2006/2008 and Obama. America will never be the same thanks to Soros/McCain.

“I like sarah a ton, but she is simply too polarizing to run for POTUS.”

.
That is an incredibly ignorant, and foolish statement!

Palin’s support is the broadest of all the Republican candidates that are currently polled. That is the opposite of polarizing.

That is also why her detractors are so agitated and vocal; she is a real solid danger to the Dems hopes for 2012, while no other candidate on the ‘R’ side presently is.

“But Reagan would have led a unified party in support of the GOP nominee.”

.
Now I see what your problem is.

You have zero understanding of what the process is.

The purpose of a primary election is to choose the NOMINEE!

Get it???

Until the primary is over, we have no nominee.

Palin has 100% of the conservative base.

Its the mushy moderates like you and your ilk that are complaining.

To take it a step further, I think conservatives support her, but it is republicans that may take issue with some of her statements. ;)

I will support her 10000% if she runs, but I am speaking honestly from my gut in saying I think she is too gaffe prone and polarizing to win in 2012.

Granted, if the economy is as bad as I think it will be, she can win, but of the economy remotely recovers she can’t win unless she drastically ups her game from where she is.

“I actually told Sarah, to her face, that I think she could make a bigger difference on the sidelines than holding public office.”

And what was Gov. Palin’s ans. to your statement.

>>And what was Gov. Palin’s ans. to your statement.<<

I won’t say, naturally. ;)

I was making the point that I strongly support her, even if it does not mean in any particular political role, and was willing to say it to her.

I said she would be excellent even as a type of Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh. If either of those guys actually ended up in public office it would seriously restrict their effectiveness, IMO.

Ya have you notice nobody is b*tchin about Demint “interjecting” himself in all these state races.

I wonder why?

I can’t recall a single actual gaffe by Palin in two years.

The average for national politicians is closer to two days.

The reason that the LSM is so rabidly against Palin is because their polling has told them from the start that she sounds a resounding chord with the voters across most of the political spectrum.

If that were not so, they wouldn’t waste a minute of broadcast time, nor a single line of print on her.

Her fast thinking on her feet, and ability to debate on an impromptu basis, without any notes or preparation indicates that she is the leader that we need for these unpredictable times.

Her demolition of O’Reilly so many times on his own show is impressive. It’s like she is living inside the heads of her adversaries.

DeMint has already cast himself with Romney.

We won’t likely hear much from him WRT the 2012 race.

Yep, and this thread is chock full of her casualties, judging by the anguish expressed!

Well, the “Young Guns” of the Republican Party, jumped into the FL-2 race and made an endorsement that ticked off many of the Conservatives here. We thought they picked the wrong guy. They should have kept quiet until after the Primary.

Just another reason why we don’t send contributions to the GOP.

Quoting a Jay Bookman column?? Come on....you might as well quote Cynthia Tucker.

Here's a quote from Kingston's web site of Aug 4th:

“The Pelosi-Reid-Obama machine may have rolled over the American people when they got this bill through Congress,” Kingston said. “But Missouri has shown that the fight is not over. This vote is a clear sign of continued and resounding opposition to Obamacare’s takeover of medicine. Congress should abide by the will of the people to repeal this bill and replace it with real reforms that bring down the cost of health care without increasing the role of government in our lives.”

How much clearer than that can you get?
