Newly Identified Corporate Supporters of Planned Parenthood Named

FRONT ROYAL, Virginia, August 11, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Life Decisions International (LDI) has released a revised edition of The Boycott List identifying corporations that support of Planned Parenthood, the world's primary abortion-advocacy group.

"As a direct result of the commitment, action and prayers of pro-family people, at least 256 corporations have stopped funding Planned Parenthood," said Kenneth C. Garvey, LDI's Director of Communications. It is estimated that the boycott has cost Planned Parenthood more than $40 million since the Corporate Funding Project (CFP) began nearly 18 years ago.

"This should serve as a testament to those who thought it impossible to change corporate philanthropic behavior," he added.

New boycott targets include AOL, Darden Restaurants (Bahama Breeze, The Capital Grille, LongHorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Season 52), Franchise Services (PIP, Signal Graphics, Sir Speedy), Hilton Worldwide (Conrad Hotels, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inns/Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Hotels, Homewood Suites), Ignite Restaurants (Brickhouse Tavern+Tap, Joe's Crab Shack), ING (financial services), Kohl's (department stores), Mrs. Fields (cookies), Staples (office/school supplies), Toys "R" Us, and Trader Joe's (markets/supermarkets).

Returning to The Boycott List are The Gap (apparel/accessories) and Freddie Mac (U.S. government-sponsored secondary mortgages).

Corporations continuing as boycott targets from the previously released Boycott List include AlphaGraphics, Wells Fargo (including Wachovia), Nike, Time Warner, Bank of America, Walt Disney, Johnson & Johnson, Lost Arrow (Patagonia, etc.), Chevron, and Nationwide Insurance, among others.

Garvey was critical of pro-life organizations that continue to use PayPal even though it has been a boycott target for several years now. "PayPal is owned by boycott target eBay," Garvey said. "Most pro-life groups are aware that it is a boycott target because it has funded Planned Parenthood, but they have consciously chosen to continue doing business with the company. Doing so is indefensible."

Garvey said alternatives to PayPal exist, and he will gladly help anyone who has trouble tracking them down. "It is unconscionable that anyone who claims to be pro-life would willingly do business with a company that funds the number one enemy of preborn children," Garvey said.

The new Boycott List includes a "Dishonorable Mention" section, which identifies charitable groups that are associated with Planned Parenthood and/or its agenda. Groups named in this section [charitable groups] include Lions Clubs, the American Cancer Society, Easter Seals, Boys & Girls Clubs, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Camp Fire, Girls Inc., Girl Scouts, Kiwanis Clubs, March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Rotary Clubs, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Salvation Army, YWCA, America Gives Back (formerly [American] Idol Gives Back), and YMCA, among others.

"This has not been some sort of 'Jesse Jackson boycott' where we make news for a few days and then go away," said LDI Chairman Thomas C. Strobhar. "Corporate officials are learning that those who value life are among the most dedicated people on earth. We will not go away until corporate involvement with Planned Parenthood comes to an end."

Why are charities giving money to Planned Parenthood?

Ping -- I guess Ronald McDonald is into killing babies along with the Girl Scouts, YMCA, YWCA, PayPal, etc.

I’ve always refused to use PayPal as it is an absolute joke, not to mention anti-2nd Amend.

But, the Salvation Army?????? What gives?

Planned Parenthood has had years to get into the corporate fabric.

But I believe those corporations with Masonic backgrounds are more vulnerable. Walt Disney was a Free Mason.

I am really surprised at the Salvation Army, though...

The YMCA and YWCA I have always heard bad things about.

The March of Dimes is not surprising as it has supported research using aborted babies...

NWO ELITES do not appreciate unnecessary humans stressing the planet’s resources.

Salvation Army? I am shocked at that one.

Ones with Masonic/New World Order ties do not surprise.

Like Ted Turner's Time Warner is to be expected -- otherwise Ted might lose face with Liberal Elite friends...

Hugh Hefner (Playboy) is proud to have given the seed money for the abortion movement back in the 1960s.

My wife uses PayPal for ebay. Is there a good alternative to PayPal?

A lot of these don’t surprise me at all. I have to wonder if there’s not some mistake or misunderstanding concerning the Salvation Army. That just doesn’t compute.

Doesn't seem like a wise business decision to donate to a group that specializes in killing your future customers.

I don’t use ebay hardly at all anymore. But where a merchant recommends paypal I always check to see if they’ll take a CC or check, cashier’s check etc. I will not use paypal. There are some alternatives such as GunPal and a few others popping up, but they’re not too widely accepted yet it doesn’t appear.

I don't know how much Visa/Mastercard/American Express/Discover may donate or give to groups like Planned Parenthood.

You could also call pro-life groups such as Life Dynamics to find out more information.

I believe Human Life International might also have information on alternatives...

I will research...

Some ways Planned Parenthood gets money is through the United Way.

I know the United Way in my area cut hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Boy Scouts. But I doubt if they cut any money going to Planned Parenthood.

Its the New World Order way of doing business... [ /sarcasm off ]

[ Maybe they don't want any competition, ie, their way of eliminating future competition...]

PayPal was started by a libertarian so I have trouble believing it is anti-2nd Amendment. Do you have any documentation about that?

Perhaps it's stance has changed since it began doing business.

Since eBay owns PayPal, there’s not much of an alternate encouraged by eBay.

Ebay is so self-righteous they even BLOCK customer paid listings that say Google Checkout. You cannot use the phrase or list Google as a method to pay your ebay listing.

Seems to me that might be a bit illegal.

That is a very well known fact in the gun community. Almost no gun dealers use paypal anymore and if they do they have to hide the nature of the transaction. That is what gave rise to GunPal. Pretty much the same rules as ebay. The following is paypals rules:

FIREARM PARTS AND ACCESSORIES
You may not use PayPal to purchase or sell any firearm receivers or frames, components and parts of receivers and frames, or “cut” or “80%” receivers. PayPal also does not permit assault weapon-related parts and accessories, firearm silencers, and kits designed to convert a firearm to have automatic firing capability. This includes the sale of any parts or accessories prohibited for sale by the National Firearms Act or other federal or state law, including items related to short-barreled shotguns or short-barreled rifles, fully automatic weapons, large-capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators and camouflaging firearm containers.

For more information about the National Firearms Act (NFA) and its requirements, please refer to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms website.

AMMUNITION
You may not use PayPal to buy or sell high-capacity magazines (those which hold more than 10 rounds), ammunition with propellant (e.g., gunpowder), or blank ammunition. The term “ammunition” means ammunition or cartridge cases, primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for use in any firearm.
