EAST POINT, Ga. - Video showed chaos unfolding in the city of East Point on Wednesday morning as hundreds of people waited for their chance to get federal housing assistance. Aerials from above the East Point Housing Authority showed a large group of people congregating around police cars and causing a scene as several people handed out applications.
Mobs of people surrounded police cars, and FOX 5 has learned workers were handing out applications to the crowd, but they would only do so with police presence. Those in the crowd would receive an application, then fill it out and wait in lines to turn them in. ...

There are some that it is not their fault. You will NOT find them there. The difference between them and the handout people is they have some DIGNITY and know it is wrong to seek a FREE RIDE. These landlords see something coming in as better than nothing - even at YOUR EXPENSE! They betray their own work ethic. They deserve a trashed unit or house.

With the way Obama’s polices have hurt America I have no doubt that many of these people waiting in line had never had to do this before and did not like that those who felt entitled to it were crowding in.
The day is coming when the government will demand that anybody with rental properties have a certain percentage of Section 8 units.
Some cities already have that by law.
These are the people who thought Obama was going to pay for their car, their house, their gas, their groceries and their utilities.

It used to be that section 8 would only pay $200 towards any damages one of their clients left.Not sure what it is now.I am glad we don’t rent anymore because we have heard from others that still do that they have been threatened by people who qualify for section 8 when they have said they won’t accept it.It’s to the point where the only thing that will save you is to make sure the places only have one bedroom and the rent kept high enough to disqualify it for section 8.

I'm all for simply brushing off accusations of racism coming from the left. However, it's also important not to accept that label.

On the South Side of our Village there's an apartment complex that 'way back when' (1978) was real nice. So nice we gave it a thought of moving there before we bought our house - on the North Side of the Village. And then sometime in the late 80's it went 'Section 8'.
Well surprise-surprise. Shortly after it went 'Section 8' our Police Department had to open a 'Satellite PD Office' right next to it because of all the crime(1) in that one place. The PD rented a space in a strip mall, which 'we' have to pay for.
So it is a fact: Where Section 8 goes, Crime follows.
(1) No 'Violent Crime'. Mainly Drugs, Property Damage, Car break-ins, etc. Oh and and and 'spouse abuse'. We haven't had a Murder in about 20 years. But the Cops were always there so that Complex needed 'special' attention.

The program, known as Section 8, has for decades put families in functional but basic homes and apartments, sometimes in less-than-desirable communities.
But overbuilding during the housing boom has left so many homes available that landlords, desperate for renters, are wooing Section 8 recipients, whose government subsidies, delivered electronically, guarantee the landlord gets paid. As a result, Section 8 recipients suddenly have a housing smorgasbord.
Plenty of average housing stock remains in many places, but in certain markets, there are also more upscale selections. On the website GoSection8.com, landlords nationwide tout boom-era showpieces—replete with “great rooms,” backyard swimming pools and built-in stainless-steel barbecue grills—that once sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Las Vegas has been one of the nation's hardest-hit real-estate markets.
Some renters are getting pickier. “More and more, I'm seeing tenants turn down places,” says Arman Davtyan, owner of seven Las Vegas properties rented to Section 8 tenants. Instead, they're going for “another property that's either bigger or in a better area or has more bedrooms,” he says. “Before, they tended to take whatever they could get.”
Though some neighbors have long contended that government-subsidized tenants increase crime and depress property values, some now say that having a house occupied is better than leaving it vacant, which attracts vandalism and other problems.
In Antioch, Calif., a San Francisco bedroom community where the number of Section 8 listings has skyrocketed in recent years, residents have mixed emotions about the new tenants. “I would concede, I wouldn't be happy with an empty house,” says Walter Ruehlig, a longtime resident of Antioch. “It's kind of like, ‘What poison do you choose?”’

YOU get to PAY MORE IN TAXES to subsidize these people.
I suspect when the tenant eventually TRASH it, and move UP again, you'll pay for the damages too! It won't matter if it is from the government or through higher insurance rates if you are part of the pool the landlord is insured with. It is so demoralizing for people that WORK FOR IT, don't get backroom special deals etc.. Obama truly is LEVELING the playing field.
BTW, the rumor is Obama will FORGIVE Fannie and Freddie debtors. I will not be surprised when he does do that at YOUR expense of course.

Me either, as of today, while it took a while, I am completely out of the stock market, I ahve no stocks, no bonds, no t notes, no munis, noting, I sold and paid off debt. This afternoon I am, amongst other things, patching my old truck and canning beans out of the garden.
