The race for the U.S. Senate in Florida continues to be all about Governor Charlie Crist and former state House Speaker Marco Rubio, regardless of which Democrat they face.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Florida shows Rubio with 38% of the vote and Crist at 33% if Congressman Kendrick Meek is the nominee. Meek earns 21%. Only one percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.
If billionaire Jeff Greene is the Democratic candidate, Crist gets 37% support to Rubios 36%, with Greene trailing at 20%. two percent (2%) like another candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Wouldn’t the Meek supporters switch to vote for Crist and give him enough support for victory in Nov?
Is the Florida primary one where you vote for only either Dems or Republicans?
If so, I would say it’s pretty safe that Rubio would get the Republican spot.
Is this a case where all Florida conservatives should cross-over and vote for Meek?
Yes, Rubio is almost certain to win the GOP nomination now, but the problem is that Chargin’ (RINO) Charlie Crist is sucking up the middle, and also runs strong with blacks, so if uber-rich white-boy Greene wins the Dem nomination, Crist gets about half the black vote by default. If Meeks wins the Dem nomination, Crist only gets about 15-20% of it.
Repub Primary - Rubio
Dem Primary - Greene or Meek (if Meek wins, rubio ahead by 5 over Crist; if Greene wins, Crist and Rubio tied; both dems far behind)
Thus hope that Meek pulls it out vs. Greene so all AA’s will support Meek in election and draw off Crist’s support.
If Meeks wins the Dem. party that will assure that Crist wont get any of the Dem. Black vote. If Greene wins however, Crist will pick up some of that vote. Root for Meeks.
Or blacks may stay home because the Dems dumped the black candidate for a late entering rich white guy.
Won't happen, unfortunately. Polling from a couple of weeks ago showed Crist pretty clearly taking a huge portion of the black vote if Greene is the nominee. Don't expect blacks to just stay home because their guy lost. They'll be more likely to vote Crist to spite the Dems (and they apparently genuinely like Crist, too, for some reason).
We will agree to disagree. The polls can’t measure turnout. If Meek isn’t the Dem nominee, blacks will not vote in the same numbers if he were the candidate.
Rubio sunk himself over his comments against the AZ law. McCollum took the same position and sunk his race in one day.
Floridians want a AZ law as muchh as AZ residents. Rubio blocked these types of laws in the FL House. I told my state house rep going door to door that I am moving to AZ. They said he heard that sentiment at many houses. A week later they were mailing postcards against amnesty and illegal immigration.
Rubio is the La Raza candidate, Crist is a slimy frek. FL needs a real Tea Party candidate. Rubio should have won this whole thing in a walk but he is pro-open borders like Jeb, Connie Mack et all. Stinking FL RINO GOP.
How can anyone in Florida fall for that Faux-Crist?

04.27.10 | Marco on Arizona immigration legislation
Like55Our legal immigration system must continue to welcome those who seek to embrace Americas blessings and abide by the legal and orderly system that is in place. The American people have every right to expect the federal government to secure our borders and prevent illegal immigration. It has become all too easy for some in Washington to ignore the desperation and urgency of those like the citizens of Arizona who are disproportionately wrestling with this problem as well as the violence, drug trafficking and lawlessness that spills over from across the border.
States certainly have the right to enact policies to protect their citizens, but Arizonas policy shows the difficulty and limitations of states trying to act piecemeal to solve what is a serious federal problem. From what I have read in news reports, I do have concerns about this legislation. While I dont believe Arizonas policy was based on anything other than trying to get a handle on our broken borders, I think aspects of the law, especially that dealing with reasonable suspicion, are going to put our law enforcement officers in an incredibly difficult position. It could also unreasonably single out people who are here legally, including many American citizens. Throughout American history and throughout this administration we have seen that when government is given an inch it takes a mile.
I hope Congress and the Obama Administration will use the Arizona legislation not as an excuse to try and jam through amnesty legislation, but to finally act on border states requests for help with security and fix the things about our immigration system that can be fixed right now securing the border, reforming the visa and entry process, and cracking down on employers who exploit illegal immigrants.

04.14.10 | Charlie Crists False Immigration Attack
Like53CRIST MYTH: Charlie Crist falsely says that Marco is soft on illegal immigration.
THE TRUTH: Marco believes that our nations immigration policy should consist of border enforcement, securing the border, fixing the visa process and ensuring that no law extends amnesty to illegal immigrants. On Fox News Sunday, Marco took on Charlie Crists false charge that he stood in the way of bills that would have enforced our immigration laws:
Marco: Just to address those issues with regarding Florida, those bills, the only place they ever got a hearing was in the Florida House and they didnt advance because the senate didnt want to advance them. Governor Crist was governor at the time, and he didnt have an interest in them as well. But those bills, the only place they ever got a hearing was in the Florida Well, the only place they ever got a hearing was in the Florida house. Never got a letter from the governor, never had him call our office. We gave it a hearing. The support wasnt there among the membership at the time, and they were focused at that time on some very serious challenges in a 60-day session.
Also on Fox News Sunday, Marco was clear about his views on illegal immigration:
Marco: Because the Republican Party, I think, unfortunately, has been cast as the anti-illegal immigration party. It is not the anti-illegal immigration party; it is the pro-legal immigration party. And having a legal immigration system that works begins, as the governor says, with border security. By the way, thats not enough. About a third of the folks in this country illegally enter legally, and they overstay visas. And so weve got to deal with that issue as well. Weve got to deal with the employment aspect of it, because the vast majority of people who enter this country illegally do so in search of jobs, and jobs are being provided to them. So we need some level of verification system so that employers are required to verify the employment status of their folks. As far as amnesty, thats where the governor and I disagree. He would have voted for the McCain plan. I think that plan is wrong, and the reason why I think its wrong is that if you grant amnesty, as the governor proposes that we do, in any form, whether its back of the line or so forth, you will destroy any chance we will ever have of having a legal immigration system that works here in America.
And the difference with Charlie Crist is clear. On Fox News Sunday, Crist said he still supports the McCain-Kennedy amnesty proposals:
Chris Wallace: But you think that the immigration reform plans that were offered in 2007 by President Bush and John McCain, you still think those are pretty good ideas?
Charlie Crist: I dont think theyre bad ideas. I think that those three principles, though, need to be underscored: protecting the border, making sure that we enforce the law thats on the books, and that those people who may have gotten here illegally are not advantaged by having done so. I think its very important, Chris, that in order to have legal immigration we have to stop illegal immigration. As the grandson, as I said, of an immigrant, its important to me personally, and I know it is to the speaker.
name recognition.
The worst thing that happened to crist is when the oil well was capped.
The fl legislature denied him the no drill ecconomic suicide law. The MSM did not report that one.
Escoffery does not even register 1% on any significant poll. He is as viable as the write in candidates.
Rubio has correctly moved on to the General election.
Your employeer is still trying to figure out the state.
nope, closed primaries.
no RINO tricks. This is one reason good time Charlie jumped ship.
The REASON Dr. Escoffery is not registering in the polls is because the polling QUESTIONS are worded as if the PRIMARY is already over and the race is between Rubio and Crist. This makes the polls INVALID..
FACTS:
Dr. Escoffery is on the campaign trail for the PRIMARY while Rubio stays in hiding until August 24th. THE GOP RINO MACHINE is calculating that Dr. Escoffery will not be able to get enough votes in the PRIMARY to beat Rubio because they “machine” knows that Crist will defeat Rubio in the general election, BOTH Rubio and Crist have plenty of “dirt” on each other that will turn the General Election into a BIG mud slinging contest forcing the voters to choose between the one with the LEAST mud on their face.
Remeber you heard in here first.... Many Disgruntled Conservative Florida voters who have left the Republican Party in the past have registered Republican in order to vote for Dr. William Escoffery in the PRIMARY... it might not be enough to WIN but the voter turn out for Dr. Escoffery will be FAR more than ANY poll is giving him credit for.
He is a Jeb Bot like Connie Mack. Crist is far far worse but Rubio claiming he is the "Tea Party" candidate is such BS.
Do we have poll numbers?
