NEWARK — A 23-year-old man who recently moved into a Newark boarding home for adults with mental illness is accused of strangling his roommate today, angry at the victim for keeping an untidy room, authorities said.
Maurice Thompson was arrested and charged with murder in the death of Dwayne Gun, 50, at The Avenues Jassil Care Facility, where Gun had lived for several years, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Thompson showed up a few months ago, and the two men shared a living space in relative peace, an employee said outside the facility’s row of red brick townhouses on the 100 block of 3rd Avenue.
But early this morning, the men began arguing, primarily because Thompson couldn’t stand the way Gun maintained the room, authorities said.
It turned violent, and Thompson strangled Gun in front of another man they shared the room with, the prosecutor’s office said. He was pronounced dead at 2:47 a.m., shortly after EMS arrived at the townhouse near the corner of Summer Avenue.

I get this way too. It’s really a wonder my second husband got out alive. God, he was a slob....
That “other man” should be charged with something too. Why didn’t he DO something when he saw someone being murdered in front of him???

I I’d known that was an option I would have saved myself hours of nagging when my children were teenagers.
I never actually strangled anyone that shared a room (not to death) but some of them volunteered for duties that they didn't remember signing up for. And I once volunteered the room for training for sky-cops making a raid. (I was out that evening)
Making E-5 was a relief for everybody. ;)
