SACRAMENTO, California, August 9, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is urging Judge Vaughn Walker to discontinue the stay that the judge placed on the enforcement of his own ruling against Proposition 8, and to thereby let homosexuals marry.
Judge Walker issued his explosive decision against traditional marriage last week; however, he decided to enjoin enforcement of his order and not to allow gay marriages to commence immediately in the state, pending the inevitable appeal of his ruling by defenders of true marriage.
"The Administration believes the public interest is best served by permitting the Courts judgment to go into effect, thereby restoring the right of same-sex couples to marry in California, wrote attorney Kenneth C. Mennemeier, representing Schwarzenegger, in a brief for Walker.
"Doing so is consistent with California's long history of treating all people and their relationships with equal dignity and respect."
While Schwarzenegger, as governor of California, was technically the lead defendant in the case to protect the constitutional amendment put in place by Prop. 8, he fled the legal battle and declined to defend marriage, forcing other law firms to step forward and defend California's own constitution in his stead.
In addition to Schwarzenegger, California Attorney General Jerry Brown and the City of San Francisco have also issued briefs opposing the stay placed on Judge Walkers decision.
Schwarzenegger has a history of supporting homosexualist causes: he has previously raised funds for homosexual causes and endorsed gay pride events.
Nevertheless, he also in the past vetoed bills legalizing same sex marriage, in 2005 and in 2007.
Schwarzenegger praised Judge Walker for what he said was his fairness over the course of the trial, after Walker's decision was released on Wednesday.
"[Judge Vaughn Walker] heard in-depth arguments from both sides on fundamental questions of due process, equal protection and freedom from discrimination," said the governor in a statement. "There are strong feelings on both sides of this issue, and I am glad that all viewpoints were respected throughout the proceedings."
Schwarzenegger also promised further steps along the same path.
"[The judges decision] is by no means California's first milestone, nor our last, on America's road to equality and freedom for all people," he said.

You see all theses little things combined with the exceptionally poor performance of the defense team makes one think that this was a show trial. They just picked the vinue and rigged the case to give them the best possible chance of getting what they wanted out of the Federal injustice system.
When I did research on the Roe V. wade case in some ways at least initially I got the same idea. I know the ACLU makes it’s industry out of doing this so its really not exactly unexpected that we would have a mistrial here.
Under the Federal court’s “logic” in this case as with the case of Roe v. Wade there could be no state and local governments cause the Federal constitution doesn’t allow for the people to cede the necessary rights to their state in order to form a government.
I know its crazy but that what the court has essentially said in picking unenumerated things to call “rights” and shoving them down the throats of the people and their states, calming them to be demanded by the 14th amendments broad “discretionary” language.
We seriously need to repeal the 14th amendment and replace it with something more effect and to the point. Perhaps something that simply says no discrimination on the account of race.
This ongoing abuse is rediculess.
Amen. I don’t know if you saw Ted Olson on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace last Sunday but his main argument and talking point was “discrimination”. He must have said it a dozen times. I kept waiting for Wallace to ask him how traditional marriage laws discriminate when EVERYONE can get married. Of course he never asked him and let him ramble on about “discrimination” three or four more times.
“all viewpoints were respected throughout the proceedings.”
That’s not the way I heard it. The religious viewpoint was belittled.
How on earth can a man want another man to “ram” his penis up into his rectum? Wouldn’t that also cause massive tearing of the rectal lining,as well as anal tissue? If there are any doctors/nurses on FR,I’d like to know the answer.
Pretty soon they’ll want to normalize necrophelia....
Ahnold: "I'm right and God is wrong."
So many hate God, America, the Constitution and the Judeo-Christian values that America was founded on and made us the greatest nation on earth.
We are in a war to save America and, to borrow an Alinsky tactic, we must succeed BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!
Yep. We’ve strayed so far from God as a nation only He can save us now.
