Yesterday, Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld updated The Daily Gut with a slightly different “Gregalogue.” He detailed his plans to open up a gay bar next to the forthcoming “Ground Zero mosque” so as to test the builders claims that the community center is for “outreach.” On last night’s Red Eye, he outlined his plan and discussed it in a typically irreverent style with his guests. While the idea still seems brilliant, the conversation highlighted just how thin a tightrope the satirist is walking here.
Like I said last night, the plan is incredibly clever. However, it is clear that it will only really work if it is seriously about tweaking religious persecution of homosexuals and not just about pissing off a bunch of Muslims. Some of our incredibly astute commenters have pointed out in the still going debate on that post that New York’s gays aren’t going to flock to this bar just to be a part of some Fox News guy’s beef with a mosque no matter how good the music is (and Gutfeld promises it will be great). This is going to have to work as a provocation and a business.

Great strategy. Drive a wedge between 2 liberal interest groups while deliciously exposing hypocrisy.
Gutfeld’s 3AM RedEye is one of the happiest shows on TV.
Nurse Bloomberg will see to it that never happens.
Y’all are forgetting about how amazingly the city expedited the permitting process to build the mosque and condemn the historic building that occupies the site.
Bloomberg will make certain that ol’ Greg never gets the permits and licenses he needs to open up a bar anywhere in NYC.
How about a strip joint? Hey, did you read about the strip club that has started protesting outside of a church on Sunday mornings, because the church protests outside of their establishment on Friday nights? The authorities do nothing of course, because of “free speech”.. Well why not spread some of that free speech to the muslims? I think we could measure the level of “outreach” committment by opening a PORK hotdog stand on the sidewalk in front of the mosque and perhaps a dog park in front.

There was a Greek Orthodox church nearby that was destroyed on 9/11, which is still waiting for a permit to rebuild.
He’s got a good adviser in Bill Schulz.
Two points:
1) Liberals and leftists love to deride and ridicule religion unless it has the potential to bring bodily harm. Muslims kill people, especially homos.
2) How are you going to get a license for a gay bar right next to a house of worship?
The progressive would point a gun between their eyes & pull the trigger if they thought such an act would outrage middle America.
Say, maybe theres an opportunity for a little reverse psychology here.
