First Lady Michelle Obama took a lot of grief for her decision to vacation in Spain last week, a glitzy getaway that prompted one New York Daily News columnist to liken her to Marie Antoinette. But now we're learning more about the trip, which, despite the furor over its alleged excess, seems to have been launched with good intentions.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet, the first lady made the trip because she wanted to spend time with her best friend, Chicago physician Anita Blanchard, who lost her father this summer. Blanchard (who is married to President Obama's best friend, Marty Nesbitt) planned a Spanish vacation with her daughter and invited the first lady and her daughters to come along. Michelle, who missed Blanchard's father's funeral in July, agreed and brought along her 9-year-old daughter, Sasha. The first couple's older daughter, Malia, is away at camp.

I propose Queen Muchelle should have taken all the grieving families of our men and women who died in service to their country in the War on Terror. IMO, these Elitists are a national disgrace of epoch proportion.

So when they go to Egypt the excuse will be that Sasha wants to see if Moses supposes his toeses are roses?

Oh yaasss. We've seen her propaganda before. The story here, if someone can talk, is if we can see if there is a money trail between her and the administration.
Is she a JournoLister? Is she compensated? Is Yahoo getting a quid pro quo? Can we get a FOIA request on any documents/emails between her/Yahoo/DNC and the White House?
This is a story that is begging to be told.

Who cares what reason Michelle is now using why she went. The fact that she used taxpayer’s money to go out of the country while lecturing the rest of us to ‘have some skin in the game’ by sacrificing. Then she lectures us to go to the gulf coast.

But that's not who the story is for. It's for the democrat voters, desperate for some excuse, any excuse, for the outrageous excesses of Marie Antoinette. Even Lynn Sweet knows it, but apparently she's happy to do her part for the cause.
Wonder how Anita Blanchard feels about being used to cover her "best friend's" ample rear end?
I figured she went there because she kinda liked the music.
I hear they are going on another vacation, like next week.............
NOTE: Marty Nesbitt is the TREASURER for Obama's Presidental campaign fund.
This is no "lifelong friendship". This trip was likely a payback for all the Nesbitt's had done for them and they want to keep them happy for '12.
Because the ladies are insane there?....................
But of course, the Obama's have no problem spending other people's money.
