LaBarbera to Ann Coulter: Reconsider Appearance at Event for GOProud — Phony ‘Gay Conservatives’
Americans For Truth ^ | Aug 10, 2010 | Peter LaBarbera

Posted on 08/10/2010 10:08:25 AM PDT by DesertRenegade

Americans For Truth About Homosexuality President Peter LaBarbera today urged conservative pundit Ann Coulter to reconsider her appearance at “Homocon,” a September event for the homosexual Republican group GOProud.

LaBarbera said:

As a fan of Ann Coulter, it pains me to see her cave in to political correctness and lend credibility to the phony homosexual “conservatives” over at GOProud. Worse, Coulter is sending a dangerous message to young Americans that homosexuality is OK. (It’s actually a sin.) Fully half of GOProud’s top 10 federal priorities center on using the Government to advance homosexuality, including:

#4 – “Repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’” – Homosexualizing the military is reckless, especially in wartime. GOProud claims to defend “individual liberty,” but what about the privacy rights of normal soldiers who don’t want to bunk and shower with men who lust after other men? Moreover, if DADT is repealed, the military will become a massive government bureaucracy for pro-homosexual “diversity” – subjecting millions of tradition-minded servicemen to Orwellian, same-sex propaganda to enforce its new lavender crusade. (Chaplains: beware.)

# 7 – “Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment.” Coulter must know that America might be just one Supreme Court justice away from legalizing oxymoronic homosexual “marriage” – which would undermine religious freedom in every state in the nation. A Federal Marriage Amendment could be the only way to stop this Roe v. Wade-like disaster. And since when did state-enforced homosexual “marriage” – with its corrosive effect on liberty and linkage to Homosexuality Promotion in schools — become “conservative”?

GOProud is non-committal on ENDA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act), which would federalize workers’ “rights” based on homosexuality and gender confusion. A truly conservative organization would fight this federal power grab — and GLBT lawyers’ dream legislation — tooth and nail. Ann, are you aware that these days it’s Christians like Julea Ward and Matt Barber who defend biblical truth – not “gays” – who are victims of corporate discrimination?

One must ask Coulter, who professes Christianity:

Would you speak at an event for “Republicans For Responsible Porn Use,” or “Republicans for Higher Taxes,” or Republicans for Choice (Abortion) — if such groups took legitimately conservative positions on other issues like gun rights? Does God condemn only Democratic “men who lie with a male as one lies with a woman” – while giving Republican sodomists a pass? Homosexual practice may be hip in New York City, but objectively it is always wrong and unnatural, and often unhealthy. Thankfully it’s also changeable, as proved by thousands of ex-gay men and ex-lesbians. Ann: why don’t you speak instead at a conference for former homosexuals? It’s not PC, but it would be far more consistent with your conservative principles than celebrating GOProud – which works directly against the Republican Party’s pro-family and pro-marriage platform.

Please reconsider and nix your GOProud talk — in the name of true conservatism.

One thing I don't get is why these homosexual activist groups don't just support Conservative without forming a group around deviant sexual behavior. What in the world does homosexual sodomy have to do with the GOP? Is there a similar group called GOPolygamy or GOPedophilia. I suspect that their real agenda it to normalize their sexual lifestyle and try to push it in the schools, etc.

For better or worse, we live in a world where there are all kinds of self-identified political groups. Black Republicans, women Republicans, Christian political groups that advocate conservative positions on issues, GOP Veterans, etc. If gay people want to sign on for limited government and reduced spending, then more power to them. I’d rather have a group like that advocating policy positions than the Christian socialist groups that advocate social spending and play footsie with the Left on Global Warming. After 8 years of Bush, we need all the help we can get on a limited government agenda.

Unfortunately, we have people even here, that think that is not possible. I was in a debate with someone that said that you cant be fiscally conservative unless you are socially conservative as well.

Ann is Catholic. Last I heard they don’t support homosexuality. Nothing to do with your so-called ‘Christian fundies’.

I just disagree with pretty much all the liberal gay agenda items and I don't see how they fit into Conservative politics. Conservative issues can be supported by homos, prostitutes, polygamists or whoever. But the agenda of avowed deviants should not be the GOP agenda. Christopher Barron, Chairman of the Board of GOProud: "We are a gay organization, we only work on gay issues, we have never claimed otherwise. My God people." “Black Republicans, women Republicans, Christian political groups that advocate conservative positions on issues, GOP Veterans, etc.”

Those aren’t groups formed around a chosen sexual behavior. I’m getting really tired of the liberal meme that people with same-sex attraction disorder are some legitimate minority like African-Americans.

Agreed....but the ‘fundies have their place as do we libertarians and I hope the bible thumpers understand that.

Ann Coulter has been seen and photographed in West Hollywood, CA at gay bars with gay male friends. She clearly is a phony on these issues, and may well be a lesbian herself.

Homosexuality is a mental illness, it defines their being.

“GOP is not strictly for christian fundies.”

Last time I checked, you don’t have to be a “fundie” to oppose the militant homosexual agenda. The vast majority of sane people oppose homosexual marriage and open homosexuality in the military (2 of GOProud’s pet issues). It has nothing to do with “christian fundies” but preserving our basic culture.

i agree completely. i'm all for any and all fiscal conservatives to join together and try to fix the country, but not neccesarily to focus on just abortion or anti-gay, social issues. fix the gov't first, then work on society.

“Ann is Catholic.”

“Coulter says that she holds Christian beliefs, and has declared that she is Presbyterian; she has mentioned that her father was Catholic while her mother was not. At one public lecture she said: “I don’t care about anything else: Christ died for my sins and nothing else matters.” - Wikipedia, (for what that’s worth)

christian fundamentalists seem to be most vocal about being against gays and against abortion. i hear very little from them regarding any fiscal issues.

BTW, the best way to get the LGBT crowd to stop being so vocal about gay marriage is to get rid of income taxes. changing to a flat or fair tax would take out a good portion of why they want to be legal to be married- tax credits. if marriage went back to being a strictly religious rite, and the gov’t stayed out of it, they wouldn’t care as much any more.

So what? I too have gay friends. I also have liberal friends. I even have (gasp) atheist friends. I prefer to engage with people rather than lock myself in a closet with only those people who agree with me 100% on every issue.

So what? I’ve gone to a local gay bar and a gay friend also asked me to go to prom with him, and that doesn’t make me a lesbian. As Ann has said in the past “I don’t hate gay people, I just don’t want them to get married”.

We all need to define in our own minds what the meaning of “homosexuality is OK” means—or not OK, depending on your view. Does it mean we won’t serve them in our restaurants? We don’t invite them to our parties? Don’t let them join our community organizations? Association is not equivalent to endorsement. I’ve known and interacted with my share of gays. It doesn’t make me some godless sin loving pervert.
