Longest serving Sen driven out by Dummie Prosecutorial misconduct.

Trumped up charges. Typical Dum tactic.

Cong. Larry McDonald Out of 435 congressmen in the House, Larry McDonald, GA, was the most conservative and the biggest thorn in the side of the USSR. He along with John Ashbrook, Phil Crane, Steve Symms, and Jesse Helms were the most influential conservatives of the 1970s-80s era.

Prayers for all involved and for the rescuers to arrive on the scene safely.

I admit to my ignorance on the Steven’s issue. Can someone give me a condensed version about what he was charged with doing and what happened? I’d greatly appreciate it.

Then the party leaders should have stepped in or better yet the voters. Not trumped up charges with a crooked prosecutor.

Ah....!
Thanks, I was thinking AK Senator and airplane crash had been in the news in the past.

I worked with a guy who walked away from 3 fatal airline crashes in the early 40’s.
I’m sure it’s one of those undocumented records.

Well at least it is summer, if winter it could easily be -30 or colder in interiror Alaska.

One of the things that strikes me from this story is that fatal plane crashes must not be as rare as I had previously thought, because here’s a guy (Ted Stevens) that’s now been in two, although we don’t yet know if he survived this one. It is truly astonishing that your coworker survived three fatal plane crashes...not so much that he survived three, but that he got back on a plane after the second one.

More like -50 and the coldest I have ever seen in my neck of Alaska which is fairly close to Wasilla was -52.

This summer has hardly even got past 70, its rained and rained and rained.

FOX Radio has said that Senator Stevens’ son was on board the plane, and Sean O’Keefe’s son was also on board.

Early reports are that the weather is terrible and hampering rescue efforts. This has been going on for hours. If there are survivors, the weather is lessening their chances.

It's probably a certainty that rescuers on the scene have already reported to base those that have survived and those that have not.

The delay for us is due to trying to find and notify family members first....if at all possible. But they can't hold off the grim news forever.

No, a de Havilland DHC-3 Otter turbine conversion, a single-engine turboprop bush plane. I think the particular one that crashed is an amphibian with both floats and landing gear.

I care that it was done in an unethical way that allowed a seat that should have remained GOP to go Dem under false accusations, and that this was the 60th vote that allowed a lot of catastrophic legislation to pass the past 18 months. If Stevens was in the Senate, we would have a very different Obamacare bill, if one at all. I agree, he needed to go, but not in this way.

In Alaska the distances are so vast & the infrastructure (roads) so minimal that travel by plane is much more frequent than for those of us in the lower 48. I think that explains the likelihood of being in multiple incidents. I went on a cruise last fall & visited several little towns, including Skagway. At one place they told us that it was a 900 mile drive to the nearest town, which was only 14 miles away ‘as the crow flies’ - the only road had to take a wide detour around glaciers & other obstructions. Pretty amazing country!

Hard to survive two plane crashes, statistically anyway.

But flying in AK is not for the faint of heart.
