Rudy: GZ Mosque is a 'desecration,' 'decent Muslims' won't be offended
Politico ^ | August 8, 2010 | Maggie Haberman

Posted on 08/09/2010 10:13:19 AM PDT by La Lydia

This went way under the radar more than three weeks ago, but Rudy Giuliani made what, as best as I can tell, were his first public comments about the planned mosque near ground zero on the Jeff Katz show on radio...He takes a very hard line, including saying that "decent Muslims" will not be offended by the opposition because they want peace as much as others do. I had been struck by how nonvisible Giuliani, who is generally known as the face of Ground Zero, had been on this issue. (A nexis search under his name, Ground Zero and mosque revealed no TV transcripts for the past month).

Here are as much of the quotes as I was able to cull from the temperamental audio...

"It sends a particularly bad message, particularly (because) of the background of the imam who is supporting this. This is an Imam who has supported radical causes, who has not been forthright in condemning Islamic (terrorism) and the worst instincts that that brings about.

"So it not only is exactly the wrong place, right at Ground Zero, but it's a mosque supported by an imam who has a record of support for causes that were sympathetic with terrorism. Come on! We're gonna allow that at Ground Zero?

"This is a desecration," he added. "Nobody would allow something like that at Pearl Harbor. Let's have some respect for who died there and why they died there. Let's not put this off on some kind of politically correct theory.

"I mean, they died there because of Islamic extremist terrorism. They are our enemy, we can say that, the world will not end when we say that. And the reality is, it will not and should not insult any decent Muslim because decent Muslims should be as opposed to Islamic extremism as you and I are."

I know many hate Guiliani, but he stepped up to the plate on this and NOBODY REPORTED IT.

Actually I saw a thread on this some days ago and there seemed to be more hatred aimed at Guiliani than at the Mosque supporters.

I can say this much with certainty. Rudy Guiliani making the case amongst New Yorkers will have far more effect on their public opinions than the rantings of FReepers who can’t see a formidable ally when he lands in their midst.

Still waiting to hear from that one “decent Muslim” saying don’t build it.

I can see it now.

The muzzies are going to rename the mosque as the “Latter Day Dome of the Rock” where the “Blessed martyrs rose to heaven” and then demand that it become it’s own nation just like the Vatican.

Well, there may be a lot more than 3, but those who are NOT offended by it are, by definition, not “good” Muslims as they do not practice the kind of theocratic aggression Mohammad and the Koran call for.

FURTHER, HOW MANY MUSLIMS HAVE SPOKEN OUT IN “OUTRAGE” at the murder of those ten Christian volunteer physicians in Afghanistan????

ZIPPO!!! NONE!!!! NADA!!!!!!

And I wouldn't hold my breath waiting EITHER!!! And this has become a NON-STORY by the leftist, Islamophilic Media, ever seeking to conceal the true nature of these fiends from the naive historical ignoramuses who populate America.

Oops, make that one. Two of the moderates just killed each other.

When are the militant Japanese going to demand a shinto shrine at Pearl Harbor?

Rudy would have been light years better than McCain. I hope Rudy can stop this nightmare.

Personally DON’T hate Guiliani. Just didn’t want the man as President last go around, or any future go arounds for that position. He’s too New York, too North Eastern Liberal yet nowhere near as New York as Bloomberg to be running this country.

I believe many think along the same lines as myself, so I don’t think HATE is a good word to describe how we all feel about Rudy. He did one “H” of a job for the country, for New York during that crisis, but he isn’t the Presidential mindset we need to lead us in these times. He’s a RINO.

Yeah IMO he would have been better than Obama, but so would McCain, that’s not the point.

The Left are not really Islamophobic; they’re Machiavellian. They want to destroy nation states so they can be in control. Power is the goal. They know that the U.S. is the finest nation on earth, but narcissistically figure they know even better. They’re knowingly complicit in bringing on chaos, including mass murder, thinking they’ll be beneficiaries. Ignoring the violent essence of Islam and what it is doing to nations across the world. Mental illness in the extreme. History proves they’ll be among the very first targets.

BOYCOTT NYC AS LONG AS THAT MOSQUE IS PLANED OR BUILT.

I will never go to NYC again.

What a shame Guiliani was not supported. HIs core values are important and he is consistent and makes decisions based on them. When it comes to the terrorist enemy, he’s a leader to admire. He was the only NY politician who refused to meet with vile terrorist Arafat when the latter visited New York. Compare that with craven Bloomberg’s pushing through a celebratory mosque at Ground Zero, in spite of the good sense of most of New York and the nation.

“At last count the 3 moderate muslims worldwide are not offended.

And liberal ministers and rabbis take those three Muslims as proof positive that Islam is a peaceful religion. These useful idiot clergy convince their congregations that Islam is their friend and they travel to farflung symposia to confirm how “peaceful” Islam is. Why, the three moderate Muslims are their proof!

He also ran on a pledge to clear out the State Dept...saying “the era of Anti-Americanism in the State Dept will come to an end”.

And he has been campaigning for hard-core Conservatives since the late 80s, (in my state), he obviously was not hostile to conservative policies in the least if he campaigned for them.

Hopefully he will be an asset to a future conservative Republican President, or run again. It would be nice to have a ruthless SOB in office for a change.

I had no intention of getting into discussion on this any further than what I stated in my initial post, but NO it’s NOT a shame he wasn’t supported. He wasn’t the man for the job due his ideological perspectives on several important factors that cannot be denied, and I’m not going to continue this should any other reader wish to jump in as I haven’t any desire to get into a 20/20 hindsight, cudda, shudda discussion. Those sorts of discussions are worthless, and a waste of valuable time.

Not surprised this is from Politico. Leaving an impression that Rudy is in hiding. The MEDIA does not want anyone to hear him. Of course, Bloomberg, mayor of NYC, is all for it! Rudy is PRO AMERICAN!

I agree. And ruthless he is when it comes to crime. Took on the NYC mob - a task no one touched before.
