No birthday cake for Obama as Secret Service steps in

WASHINGTON (AFP) – US President Barack Obama said Wednesday his security staff put the kibosh on a birthday cake that was to be offered by union leaders for his 49th birthday.

Obama, who spoke at an AFL-CIO labor federation meeting in Washington, said that "it's good to spend my birthday with some good friends," but that "the Secret Service nixed the cake."

AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka had offered the US head of state birthday wishes and said the powerful labor group wanted to provide a cake for the occasion.

"I was disappointed there wasn't a cake," Obama said. Referring to the Secret Service detail that protects the leader around the clock, Obama said: "They're probably eating it right now."

His celebration may be a muted affair as First Lady Michelle Obama and youngest daughter Sasha are vacationing in Spain, while older daughter Malia is away at summer camp.

Spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama would be in Chicago later Wednesday and would have dinner with friends.

I won't say that one of my hyper Labs has never pulled me off balance that way -- but we were usually in the middle of doing something pretty strenuous, like retrieving.

Ruby was a young pup then, I think that was the first time she had ever retrieved in water, and she was out of her mind with excitement. She still gets pretty agitated when presented with a water retrieve, but walking up to the line off leash and at heel hasn't presented a problem for several years now.

(If you knew how hot it was in that open field you wouldn't laugh at my silly hat . . . )

But the Obamas' dog was supposed to be already trained when they got it -- but you can UN train them pretty fast if you let them walk all over you. Looks like that's what has happened.

I never read the Frist/Lott stuff. Yikes. I hate to say it, but Lott always did remind me of Liberace. You know, the guy who was waiting to get married “when he met a girl like his mom”?

What sealed the deal for me thinking he is a homosexual is that pic of him, in college, sitting RIGHT NEXT to that little middle eastern dude. NO MAN DOES THIS.

It just goes to show you the elitist attitude and distrust that this so called presidency has for the people.I guess thats what you get when we have an elected fascist, unqualified, unAmerican, non president. Acomlete searation between government and the people,who are angry.Its unsettling.

The dislike factor is getting higher as a result. America cannot be fooled anymore.But America can be frightened. Thats Obama's next fascist strategery.Be ready for it.

In the first picture you posted, I see a human master asserting dominance over a dog that needs to be reminded. In the 0bama picture I see a dog asserting dominance over a particularly feckless human without even trying very hard.
