Democrats to target George W Bush during mid-terms
London Telegraph (U.K.) ^ | August 8, 2010 | Robert Winnett

Barack Obama and senior Democratic politicians are attempting to revive unpopular memories of George W Bush in a bid to undermine the resurgence of the Republicans ahead of this autumn's mid-terms.

The US President, who will this week travel to Texas – his predecessor's heartland – has repeatedly warned in recent days that Republicans do not have a "single idea" that differs from Mr Bush's policies.

Democrat members of Congress, who are returning to their states to campaign for November's elections, have been advised to remind voters of the alleged damage that Mr Bush's policies caused to the US economy.

Mr Bush left office more than 18 months ago as one of the United States' least popular presidents with an approval rating of less than 30 per cent.

He has kept a low profile since stepping down. However, this may be about to change as his memoirs are due to be published just days after the mid-term elections in November.

Democrat strategists hope that details of the book will begin leaking in the run-up to polling day placing the Bush legacy as a central issue for voters.

The Republicans have called the strategy "desperate" and "sad" – and claim it is designed to deflect attention from the growing concerns over Mr Obama's record.

The current President's approval rating is now below 50 percent amid voter concerns over the continuing high levels of American unemployment. Senior White House aides have publicly warned that they may lose control of the US Congress in the mid-terms as a result.

To say these Dems are pathetic would be a gross understatement. Is this all they have? The voters aren’t going to buy it.

At that point, I doubt he will run for re-election.

he thinks so highly of himself, unlike anyone ever... he will run again... he really believes his own bs... he is an axample of what can happen when children are esteemed to a level beyond their capabilities, potentialities... he doesn't live in reality...

Yeah, they desperately want a response from former Bush administration officials. Fortunately, I suspect most are smarter than that.

The Republicans need to remind the voters that the DEMRATS have controlled Congress since 2006, when our economy started going down the tubes. Granted, Bush should’ve vetoes a lot of their bills, but, didn’t. According to Mark Levin, Bush signed them because it was the only way he could get the money he needed for the military. But, make no mistake about it - the Congress controls the purse strings.

These commies sure are desperate. So, they’re going to excuse their miserable votes and blame it on Bush? If the electorate falls for this strategy, they deserve the scums they send to Congress. Unfortunately, we all have to suffer their choices.

That darned George! He just won’t stop running for office. But, since he wasn’t legitimately elected to either term, he’s eligible to run for two more. ;^)

I'm not sure whether their strategy would work today, but I don't want to underestimate the Dhims with their MSM minions. So far conservatives (or Republicans in general) have never provided a counter argument to what started the economic crises in the first place. We heard 24/7 the Dhims version, ie, the Bush administration ideological mantra of "Let the market work" had allowed greedy Wall Street executives went unchecked.

We surely are winning if the discourse is on "unemployment"; but if they manage to frame the issue into "bringing back Republican into power is not gonna work because they ideology had allowed the crises to happen in the first place," they might have a shot. Especially of we don't come with a compelling counter-argument.

“- Bush unemployment down to 4.2%
- Obama lowest unemployment over 7.5%”

None of this is relevant. Oboma ran on HIS OWN ability to implement change and turn things around and has FAILED to make anything better. The entire crash could theoretically be GWB’s fault but Obama ran on his being the one we have been waiting for. 19 mos later and: THINGS ARE WORSE! Case closed, Obozo sucks at the executive thing.

Hussein’s real unemployment rate is probably at 17% or more.

They’re TOAST and they know it. The ones that don’t know it are taking too many drugs. Pelosi is living in an alternate universe with her sidekick Reid.
